Is Bas Rutten considered a Dutch Kickboxer?

I don't know, but people love to use examples of one fighter to draw conclusions about entire styles and rule sets. Overeem and dutch kickboxing, Machida and karate, my personal favorite James Toney and boxing. It's all bullshit. The only thing you can learn about with such a miniscule, infinitesimally small sample size is each individual fighter, not the validity of their background. Anything more is over-fitting.

People also ALWAYS forget that skill doesn't exist on a spectrum--also commonly expressed as styles make fights. In other words Overeem being successful in kickboxing does not make him a more skilled striker than the less accomplished strikers he got knocked out by.

Dutch? Check
Kickboxer? Check

Hi Charlitos1988.... nice to see you back with your style threads.

sure, why not. he fulfills two of the two requirements, no?

then again, hes a Kyokushin guy but doesnt Dutch KB have roots in that anyways? kinda like Brazilian "MT" comes from TKD?

lol at people's intense need to categorize and section arbitrarily. what if he is? what implications does that have? fucking nothing.

look at individual people and if you're into that sort of thing, you can look at it historically or in the perspective of lineage and general trends in nations or areas. but really, does it fucking matter if he's a 'dutch' stylist - it's just a semantics soup.

it 's all about individuals and how they specifically fight or interpret the information and training they're given.

Dutch kickboxing is Dutch style karate.

It's another type of kyokushin.

Remember that time before you changed your gimmick that you argued with me senselessly that all the dutch kickboxers secretly trained Muay Thai at night and that the whole "Boxing + Kyokushin" thing was fake bullshit?

Glad you are changing your schtick.

I thought you just wordlessly posted videos that are semi-related to the topic in an effort to give the impression that you know what you're talking about, but just can't be bothered to explain when these imbeciles should figure it out on their own based on the loosely relevant study material you provided?

When have I ever argued with you ? LOL

In b4 sinister locks thread for pointless flaming after the original question was thoroughly answered.

so is he a Dutch kickboxer or Kyokushin stylist (among other things) that just coincidentally is Dutch?

im still kicking myself for not attending Ramon Dekkers's seminar at Bas's gym out here a few years back.

and for missing out on Bas being at my old gym during the only "special event" held there that i didnt go to.

its quite possible im just destined to never meet the guy.
