The successor to Jackie Chan would have to be comedic, & acrobatic.

This dude seems like he is going more for the traditional martial arts star thing, ala Bruce Lee / Jet Li / Tony Jaa etc.

Jet Li and Tony Jaa are both very accomplished in acrobatics.

Not so much in their fights though, those guys are more straight ahead ass-kickers. What I'm saying is, a Jackie Chan action scene is as much about him breakdancing away from the bad guys by jumping through open windows, rolling around table legs & poles, and sliding underneath chairs etc., as it is about actually fighting.

Jackie's movies are funny too, he's usually playing for a laugh or a stunt, more than a display of martial arts. Usually until he meets the main bad guy, then he goes briefly into badass mode, but mostly his movies are a kind of slapstick.

Jackie Chan is almost more Charlie Chaplin than he is Bruce Lee. 99% of martial arts action stars go for the serious badass thing, David Cheung seems to be one of those.

Yeah. Jackie Chan is a huge fan of the silent age comedians like Charlie Chaplin and Buster Keaton -- and he has mimiced their stunts on several occasions.

Donnie Yen is the best current martial arts actor but even he is north of 50 so it's time to add some youth to the genre.

To be on the same level of guys like Jackie, Jet, Jaa and Donnie he needs to make his name is asian movies where he can be the lead. Not just playing the villain in crappy movies like Mortdecai.

Jackie Chan has Drunken Master II and Police Story movies on his resume. Jet Li has Fist of Legend, Fearless and the Once Upon a Time in China. Tony Jaa has got the Ong Bak and Protector movies. Donnie Yen has got the Ip Man movies. David Cheung isn't going to get his own movies like that working only in hollywood movies.

I don't recall Jet Li ever being noted for his acrobatic skills or remember any movies that demonstrated that without the aid of CGI or wires.

Jackie was trained in Peking Opera, so that explains his high skillset in acrobatics. Jet Li has a background in Wu Shu I believe

Can this guy act? Cause Jackie can act. Does this guy have appearance appeal? Cause Daniel Wu from Badlands and Stephen from Walking Dead does (no homo). Is he well known in Asia?

1) Can he act? Yes a bit I think.
2) Is he good looking? Don't know I'm not gay.

There will never be a successor to Jackie.

Jackie is light years ahead of everyone.

I think JeeJa Yanin was probably the closest to Jackie Chan in terms of style but she is still very unknown in the states and didn't quite take off. Shes still pretty young so its not too late to catch up.Chocolate is very much like a Jackie Chan movie
