I'd like to start training in all facets of MMA late this year,
but I'd like a good summary of my bodily advantages and disadvantages first.

Is 68 inches a long reach or a short one?

That's about normal for your height, you should start training anyway, fuck what society will claim as advantages/disadvantages just go out there and bust your ass; then go bust other peoples' asses (in competition of course).

Reach is usually close to one's height. Your height is 66", so a 68" reach is probably just a little longer than average for your height.

It's more how you use your reach imo.

Example: Jones vs Struve

I know,
I just want to understand my bodily proportions so as to understand where I would work best.

It's pretty normal for your height.

No.

Are you going to ask about your penis next?

Its longer than mine, im 5'6 my reach is like 65. Reach isnt a huge deal though, there are advantages to having a shorter reach, like being easier infighting. Yours is pretty average for the height.

You'd probably be better off asking about your reach and height in relation to your (projected) weight class.

Its average for your height but hey Rocky Marciano had a 67 inch reach at 5'10.5 fighting at HW..its all about how you use it. What is possibly more important is your reach/weight ratio because if your a LW or WW it doesn't matter if its average for your height its short for the division but if your a FW or below its fine. For example i'm 5'7.5 -5'8 with a 73.5 inch reach which is long but since I weigh 193lbs and would cut to WW where my reach is pretty average for the division so it doesn't really matter.

I got 68 and I am 5'8 myself. It always feels annoying to spar against bigger and taller guys with bigger reach, but what bothers me even more is to watch UFC or something else and see when they show the stats of the fighters that most of the guys at my height and many shorter ones have bigger reach than I do

Sean Sherk was usually made fun of because they said he had T-rex arms, his reach was '67 though, at least according to this

^Damn, didn't know that Marciano had 67 at HW, thats insane

The reach stats are as off as the height stats in combat sports so don't worry there are some exceptions whose reach they really measure but it's the same as height the reach doesn't get officially measured and the fighters just write down anything they want especially since it isn't as obvious as when you lie about your height

Yeah,
but Sherks arms did look tiny on him.

Rocky Marciano having such short arms is a trip, dude.

Bro-Statistician here. Reach is usually the same as height. Being one inch over or one inch under height is also very normal. I would say over 95% of people fall in one of those three catagories.
