Lins looks to have great TDD but Ion has some of the best takedowns at LHW in the UFC and Lins is 38 and Ion is almost 10 years younger so I'm picking Ion.

Reasonable fight right now for two guys who are probably Top 20ish right now. With Kennedy falling short against Jacoby, there's a decent chance that whoever wins this gets a Top 15 opponent next (though I think Ulberg will get priority assuming he beats Da Un Jung).

I'm favoring Lins. His improvements since dropping to 205 have made him look like a whole new man. At Heavyweight he looked sloppy, unmotivated, and frankly awful. Legitimately one of those "This guy won a million dollars in the PFL?!" moments when watching him fight. But after cutting down to 205, he was able to put a pace on Prachnio and break him with his wrestling/clinch work/pressure striking, knocked out OSP in seconds, and then out-hustled a savvy well-rounded vet in Grishin across three rounds even if it did involve a bit of stalling to do so. I don't think he's some elite prospect now or anything, but he's at least consistently winning fights.

Lins has a 100% TDD in the UFC, though admittedly the sample size is fairly small from two primary kickboxers in Prachnio & Grishin trying to take him down a few times. Cutelaba will probably be the best wrestler he's faced. Ion also has the power to hurt him like others have... for one round, anyway. That's really why I'm going with Lins. He has shown much better cardio across 3-5 rounds, has better fight IQ and knows when to fight safe/conservatively, is more measured in striking exchanges, and seems at least somewhat well-rounded. Ion's fight IQ and gas tank are massive liabilities in literally every contest and he's a bit chinny himself at times. Not to mention the size disparity; Ion is at his best when he can bully his opponent but he's actually a bit undersized for 205 and would arguably do better at Middleweight. Conversely, while Lins' HW run in the UFC didn't go well, he pressured and beat the fuck out of some 250-260 pound Heavyweights in the PFL.

I'll never get behind Ion. My most disliked fighter on the roster.
