Does anyone know which kind of glove is better for sparring?

which gloves are you comparing??

This. Be specific.

Neither one is "better" per se. Both can be great but have different feels.

Ringside IMF tech training gloves vs Ringside safety sparring gloves would be a good example. Both are very protective but the IMF is a firmer bouncier padding whilst the safety sparring glove is more a plusher softer padding.

Kind of like comparing Jessica Biels ass to Kim Kardashians ass. They're both good for hittin'.

so i guess my question, here, is why would you want firmer/bouncier padding instead of the softer padding? it seems that the 4 layer foam gloves are the same specs as the competition gloves required by USA boxing. for sparring, isn't softer better?

With bouncier gloves you get into a better habit of bring your hands back easier, while the other gloves provide the most protection to your partner... If you are training to compete I would recommend the IMF to develope some snap to your punches.

This. It's all about "force feedback". If you have gloves that are too soft you don't develop the "feel" of effective punching. Your hands are blind to the technique.

IMF gloves are the best of both worlds, plenty of protection for you and your partners face as well as enough "snap development" that BigCP is talking about.

Some people prefer the softest gloves they can find (such as the quad layer stuff) and others still prefer gloves like Reyes or Grant that have the most force feedback and use a modest amount of latex padding.
