Homan blasts Hochul for touting subway safety as migrant accused of burning rider to death
Tom Homan, President-elect Donald Trump’s border czar, shamed New York Gov. Kathy Hochul during an appearance on Fox News on Monday.
On Sunday, Gov. Hochul touted her New York City subway system safety initiatives in a post via X. Both the National Guard and New York City Police Department were involved in the effort to add cameras to subway cars and reduce crime, her office says.
Homan, however, condemned the timing of the post in the wake of a gruesome attack on a New York City subway train this weekend. An illegal Guatemalan migrant allegedly lit a sleeping passenger on fire, causing her to burn to death.
"Governor Hochul, shame on her,” Homan said. “She supported sanctuary status in that state. She welcomed thousands of illegal aliens to her state.”
"Governor Hochul, shame on you,” Homan added. “There's nothing you can say that's going to make this right in New York."
A spokesperson for Gov. Hochul did not respond to a request for comment from The National News Desk Monday.
Gov. Hochul has faced a flurry of criticism recently, including from a fellow Democrat, Rep. Ritchie Torres, D-N.Y., who also condemned Gov. Hochul's response in a post via X.
"Two hours ago, Kathy Hochul took a victory lap for making subways 'safer,'" he wrote. "She congratulates herself on the same day two subway riders were stabbed in Queens (one in the face and one in the chest) and another was barbarically burned alive."
"Has there ever been a more tone-deaf Governor in the history of New York?" Rep. Torres asked.
Kathy Hochul is going have an address this but is likely struggling to find a way to save her political career and appease the left.
