DAMON JACKSON - gets slept by Topuria, comes back to win his next 4 fights

RYAN HALL - gets slept by Topuria, comes back to beat Derrick Minner in his next fight

JAI HERBERT - gets slept by Topuria, bounces back to beat Kyle Nelson in his next fight

BRYCE MITCHELL - gets submitted by Topuria, beats Dan Ige in his next fight

JOSH EMMETT - gets battered by Ilia, knocks out Bryce Mitchell in his next fight

ALEX VOLKANOVSKI - gets chinned by Ilia, comes back and beats Diego Lopes for the title in his next fight

MAX HOLLOWAY - gets chinned by Ilia, comes back and beats Dustin Poirier in his next fight

CHARLES OLIVAIRA - gets chinned by Ilia, comes back and strangles Mateusz Gamrot in his next fight

His only UFC opponent who lost after fighting him is Zalal Yousef, but even he’s on a nice win streak now.

Pretty interesting stat, pretty much confirms that Topuria isn't beating a bunch of washed up dudes, he beats them and makes them into better fighters.

People will still deny it, even if they’re seeing it real time that modern day fighters primes are extending into later ages and even when they’re not at their physical best, adapting and evolving with the coming tide is keeping them competitive because they’re just that good. Ive been saying this for the past few years, that people on here discard fighters after a loss very quickly, like they’re washed. People are stuck to it because the likes of Fedor & Shoguns were losing, so the only excuse was they were washed, it’s an outdated excuse. It’s better to just admit the better fighters won.

I dunno, but God damn he got absolutely roasted and treated like a complete can after the ilia fight.
Was it a great showing? No.

But there's really now shame losing to one of the top p4p guys.
Yeah, he was 9-1 in his last 10 fights with the only loss being to the best guy across 2 division.

But he was also pushing 40 (now he is 40) so it was probably a good time to call it quits and save some braincells.

Agreed, he definitely left at the right time.

But all the people acting like he sucked and was never good is so damn ridiculous.

Even old BJ getting tapped like that is insane.

are their primes extending or are the latest batch of fighters just not as good? Glover couldn't beat the top 5 when he was in his actual prime, and then when he was in retirement age he was beating nearly the entire new gen.

Maybe he was just a late bloomer like Werdum.

or maybe Gus, Jon Jones, DC, and Rumble are better than Jiri, Jamahal Hill, Jan, and Thiago Santos. by accolades the former smoke the latter, in head up match ups you have 2 GOAT level fighters in DC and Jon. there is no GOAT level fighter in the latter.

Post USADA and TRT a lot of guys fell off. Were seeing better skill and more natural fighters at the top of the division now.

Little bit column an and column b. Glover entered the UFC essentially in his “prime” and got a title shot, only reason the likes of Jan and Glover touched gold was Jones vacated, and the alleged “champion” in Reyes was beat by Jan and Glover beat the other supposed “champion” in Thiago Santos. Honestly it’s depending on the weight class.

Just a few years ago people on here were dismissing champions in the lighter weight classes a considered them wash in their early 30’s. Youngest fighters in the top 10 at BW is Dong 27 & Umar 29. Everyone else in their early 30’s to mid. Same goes for flyweight, the youngest is Van 23 and Tiara 25, everyone else is in their 30’s. The heavier weight classes we know they can compete at later ages, we’ve known for sometime, Im mainly talking the lighter weight classes, Pantoja and Merab are in their mids 30’s practically and they’re still improving showing it every fight, at 145 the youngest fighter in the top 10 is Jean Silva at 28 and Zalal at 29, everyone else is in their early 30’s all the way to mid to late 30’s all the way to the top 15 with on average 20+ bouts and People here considered Holloway out of his prime at 28yrs old and 20 or so bouts..all because he lost to Volkanovski.

There are many variables but the average age for fighters being competitive is getting later, even you don’t you agree the numbers and the performances they sre having are all there to be examined. I honestly the PI has a lot to do with it and just fighters being smarter.

Maybe… or maybe back then most of the 205 competitors were the size of today’s welterweights and middleweights.

As great as Jones is he struggled with just about every guy close to his own size and probably lost to Reyes. Hell, he couldn’t even finish Anthony Smith, every decent 205 this decade has put Smith in the fetal position with very little effort.

He is a super manlet indeed. Hope he bulks (to a level that he looks like an old Volkswagen Beatle) and competes in heavyweight, having all the belts.

Topuria is incredibly tiny. Look at him next to 5'3" 125-lb Kai Kara France.
