If WW was 175 instead of 170 that would be perfect.

Honestly I would probably cut to WW except my age might not let me. MW I think would be pretty easy. I used to cut weight back in high school so I remember the struggle. Not sure how my old kidneys would do if I was shooting for 170.

I walk around at about 210 at the moment but would fight at 170. Would need to drop some fat and muscle to get there. 185 could be an option but feel I'd be at a height disadvantage since I'm about 5'10.

I trained MMA a few years ago (didn't fight) but at the time I remember comparing myself to people in the gym thinking I'd be best at welterweight.

My walkaround weight is 175lbs. When I wrestled in HS I was 135lbs and cut about 3 lbs every week to make weight. Also a 2 time state champ, that was about 17 years ago though. I rarely grapple anymore and hardly workout alot dealing with a family now. If I was to get in the gym I think I would drop weight pretty quick and make a run at lightweight (155 lbs) I would say the build I have is similar to that of Myles "Fury" Jury

ego and narcissm aside, im a genetic freak but not in a way youd imagine. Im about 5'11 and 140 lbs soaking wet. When I tell people what I actually weigh, its allways a resounding bullshit. I dont look like I weigh 140 lbs, or have the body of someone youd expect would have weighing so little at a decent height. After 43 years, Im still puzzled by my body makeup. It makes 0 sense. Im easily the strongest pound 4 pound person I know. Def not the strongest person obviously, but for my build and weight Im an absoulte freak. I could easily cut down to 135 and honestly probably 125(albeit half dead). Not even kidding, if youre within 30 lbs of me Im probably tossing you around if your not a fighter. I had trained martial arts in my youth I have 0 doubts I could have went pretty far.

I'm 6'1" 235 right now, but in my healthiest adult days I was 195, and I still had fat to lose. I imagine I could healthily diet to 185, and do a 15 pound water cut to 170. I guess that makes me a welterweight in today's UFC.

I’ve fought in kickboxing at 170, but all I did to get there from 190 was quit drinking. During the week.

So probably 155

I do kinda feel like the average American has a thick build. Just cause so many of us are legit lifetime fat fucks and those dudes just have big bones

5’ 9 199 at 28% body fat

Without going to the gym?

That’s kinda big
Yup. So at 10% BF that guy is 163 which means he'd have to fight at 145 and he'd be average sized at best for the weight class.

Volk and Ilia are probably a bit under 10% and they are 166 or 167 in cage.

It is abysmal the shape the average American man is in. Chances are, any given American man is fighting 3 or 4 weight classes down from his "walk around weight". Even many athletes in other sports carry around a decent amount of muscle and heft more than they would be ideal fighting at and could go down 2 or 3 weight classes from "walk around weight".

Not to mention the whole term "walk around weight" is vague: some men walk around in tip top shape; others...don't. So, "walk around weight" weight could mean on one end of the spectrum, a man in tip top fighting shape but pre-water cut...while on the other hand it could be a Paddy Pimblett type dude that does mukbangs.

Also, you have to ask yourself this: how do you feel about fighting men that are bigger than you? Alot of men - including high level fighters - are very comfortable being the larger man, but are clearly out of their element being the smaller man. If you are one of those men that is uncomfortable being the smaller man, then the option of cutting as much weight as possible is there for you, but, at the expense of depleting yourself and making your brain more susceptible to being knocked out. And then, on the other hand you have guys like Azamat Murzakanov who could make WW and maybe even LW if he wanted to, but is knocking out LHWs and is willing to fight at HW on a moments notice (he did take a HW fight on short notice but it go scrapped).

Walking around at 238 lbs, but I can probably make LHW.

I'd try to make WW and look like James Irvin cutting to MW.
