If you could institute 3 changes in the UFC what would they be?

Curious to know everyone's opinions.

I'd change the weight divisions (125, 135, 145, 155, 165, 175, 185, 200, 215, 230- Super HW). For females, I'd just get rid of the FW division.

Make eye pokes, intentional or not, an automatic point deduction. If it happens again, another point deduction. If it happens a 3rd time automatic disqualification loss.

Get rid of one of the three judges, and replace them with a tallied-score system, much like Verdict, open to the public, judged by the public and/or accredited media outlets.

all grounded strikes legalized

automatic point deduction for first foul, including faking a foul after replay

AI judges with open scoring

electrified (lightly) cage

Why just one of the three? That's like a weird middle ground between democracy and dictatorship: Either you trust the judges, or you don't.

Why not make the people vote for the winner? No judges, let the people be the judge.

Knees to a ground opponent and soccer kicks are legal.

Fighters are obligated to move up a weight class after a second weight miss in a row.

The challenger for the title being based on merit and not popularity.

1) No immediate rematches for title fights no matter how long a champion reigned
2) No "champ vs champ" fights and immediately changing divisions after winning a belt
3) No interim belts but champions are stripped of the title if they are inactive for a year and don't have a fight booked within 3 months

This would solve A LOT of my problems with MMA

Agree with most of the takes here. Allow soccer kicks, 12-6 elbows, and strikes to grounded opponents.

Any 3 of these would be a good start.

1. Independent ranking body.
2. Bring back grounded knees.
3. Eliminate control time as a criteria.
4. Automatic point deduction for fouls after replay confirmation.
5. Combined round score is displayed next to clock and updated at the end of each round (except final round).

I would

Close Womens 145,135 Open womens 105, make a womans open weigh so we can have women of any size fight and not have to kill themselves.
all fouls dock half a point. no warnings. this means, one eyepoke and one low blow is 1 point. not 2 warnings.
Open Scoring, I know the arguments against it. The argument for it is stronger IMO.

the problem with rules like this is that they are totally arbitrary.

You (as in @FreddieRoachsVoice) would break anyone of these rules in any given circumstance if the scenario saw fit.

for example, Lets say someone pulled out of a fight with 2 weeks notice and they cant find an opponent. The only person who would take it is the former champion, which would create an immediate rematch that breaks one of your conventions. if YOU were the promoter, you'd make the fight. It's the only sensible thing to do.

these types of Rules should be used as "Loose guidelines" rather than hard coded rules. I appreciate what all of them try to do. but sometimes a promoters hands get tied, then these go out the window.

no more WMMA
kicks and knees to the head of of downed opponent allowed
grappling not allowed

Slap Fight Championship belt battle takes main event slot every show.
Fight card every night.
Yamma Pit.
<{jackyeah}>

1) Points based rakings (where you also lose points for inactivity) and some kind of challenge system;
2) No HW limit weight;
3) No moving up to fight for the belt directly. Enter as a top 5. Enough if this champ champ bullshit.

LMFAO @ acting like "promoters having their hands tied" is the primary reason why we get this endless stream of immediate rematches. Breaking the rules would be a RARE exception like Aldo rematching Holloway which was NOT the original plan... this is not reflective of the clearly established promotional norms which we see CONSTANTLY and are a legitimate problem with the sport. Talk about trying to play "devil's advocate" and failing miserably <lmao><lmao><lmao><lmao>

1. No drug testing
2. All strikes legal on the feet are legal on a grounded fighter
3. Refs can't end rounds if someone is close to being finished, ie when Adesanya had Pereira badly rocked at the end of the 1st round, they keep fighting until Pereira can recover and get out of trouble. Same goes for if someone is close to being finished on the ground.

knees on the ground and soccer kicks legal

fights are scored in their entirety instead of by round

yellow cards for stalling or inaction

1. Activity penalties: Strip champs after 6 months automatically and penalize rank with inactivity or rejecting fights.
2. Pride PED rules
3. The 3 Judges changed out for 1 ringside judge stays, 1 media judge average, 1 ufc audience average
