If Vegeta was replaced with Nappa or Raditz...

Question for all the DBZ fans, I am wondering if instead of Vegeta, Nappa or Raditz ended up becoming a Z fighter and replacing Vegeta as a prideful warrior. Would their character garner love and attention from the fans the way Vegeta has?


What I mean is, if the role was such that either Raditz or Nappa would survive the saiyan saga and take Vegetas role and end up becoming Gokus Rival. Would their character receive the same impact as prince of saiyans or was Vegetas impact had something to do with his looks or was it his title/background?

Also, who would make a better Z fighter/goku rival, Raditz for being Gokus estranged brother or Nappa for being a former General of the saiyan army who has shown compassion for saibamen and wanting to wish raditz back to life?

Nappa would make a terrible rival; he's beta, he's an idiot, he has little backstory, and has an annoying voice. Raditz could have potentially been a decent rival because of sibling rivalry, and having a semblance of a backstory + he wasn't an idiot like Napa. None of them could fill Vegeta's roll, though. The character, the backstory, the voice acting, everything about him is perfect. The creator of DBZ used to hate Vegeta and wanted to kill him off early, but his overwhelming popularity with fans kept him in the series. His impact with fans is huge.

Also, he was the lead commander of the whole saiyan army. Though I do admit his voice was somewhat goofy in all depiction. But he showed signs of redemption such as wanting to wish Raditz back to life or showing sadness for Vegeta killing one of the saibamen.


See, I want to pull for Raditz but what bothered me was his petty tactic of begging Goku to let go of his tale. I thought that was some seriously chicken shit move that makes him hard to redeem since it was so petty in nature.

It could have gone either way especially since Raditz being Goku's brother.

The tail stuff is kind of petty. The creators basically removed the anything regarding the tails after the Saiyan Saga. I can only remember it being brought up in the Tree of Might movie after that.

Also Raditz is a badass in Dragon Ball Multiverse.
