I've looked over the rule book for IBJJF and I'm wondering what everyone here sees as the main rule changes for 2012?
Were there really any changes? I thought they just laid out the current rules much better? Pictures and everything.
A couple, especially in the area of gi and no-gi uniform regulations.
Where does it say that?there is something that will be polemic: You cannot hold the ankle while putting the delariva hook. They said that it put a dangerous pressure over the knee.
Only where you underhook with the leg?
You can hold the ankle if you do a normal dlr?
Pretty sure it's just for the underhook. Either way, the DLR does put pressure on the knee. If you're going to make leg reaping illegal under the pretense of knee safety than you gotta ban this too.
Personally I think both should be legal. This ain't checkers.
I agree. However, the DLR guard is a bit more sacred to most BJJ players than leg locks, and they're banning one of the most effective ways of playing it. Also, if consistency in this rule is to be enforced, they're going to have to ban Lucas Leite's style of half guard as well, as that puts a tremendous amount of pressure on the knee in the exact same way.
