I've been working in a major hospital mortuary for over a year now. If you have any questions throw them up.

What happens to people in your town who die alone, without friends or family? What happens to their bodies?

How long did it take to get used to seeing dead bodies?

Has it changed your attitude to death?

Do you and your colleagues have a sick sense of humour?

We refer them on to the Public Trustee. They then make an effort to contact any distant NOK that we may not be aware of, if that fails they will organise a paupers funeral while attempting to use any funds the deceased may have accumulated in their lifetime. The deceased is always buried and not cremated, in case any family shows up in the future wanting to claim the body.

How do they make sure that your mortuary types don't get frisky with the bodies? I'm betting that people do...

Do you have sex at your workplace...

It took me about 1 week, I had to assist in an autopsy on my first day of working there.

Can't say it has really changed my attitude towards death, I've always seen it as a part of life. It has made me see the importance of making the most of the time we have on this earth though.

Yes, definitely. Especially my manager. He has been working in Mortuary's for about 40 years now, if he didn't crack jokes each day he probably would have gone crazy a long time ago. It's part of the culture.

Whats the fast track to getting into this kind of work?

Do the dead look like people or more like meat or something else to you now?

Well for starters, you would have to be a twisted fuck for even contemplating such a thing, and I'm sure that type of person would stand out in the interview process. But yeah, I've heard of it happening before too. Those people are usually caught.

Some girl asked me to bang in one once.

I don't really have a question.

Very sad..

Is it depressing?

Not really. I'll feel sad for about 2 seconds if a child or a baby or a homicide victim comes down, but at the end of the day it's just a job and you can't allow yourself to become too bothered by it.

How do you handle patients who won't stop talking, while you work?

Does your workplace keep any emergency supplies in case of a zombie outbreak or any other supernatural occurence?
