I think Rockhold's mistake was to bulk up too much after he came into UFC

He was slim and agile in his strikefroce days, with great cardio, as you can see in this image:

This version of Luke was something else.

I got the impression that he has drug problems. I think he alluded to it on a visit to his home from some tv crew. I forget what that video was exactly. all in all, he's been kinda a glass cannon. Skilled, but big struggles when met with adversity.

He never learned proper striking defense and never had the chin to compensate for that. Seriously, all of his KOs came from left-side strikes, whether left hooks or a wheel kick.
Not sure if you are missing something but a Left Hook from your opponent ie Bisping hits you on your right side. The TRTitor wheel kick him Luke on his left side. Seems like he is vulnerable all over.

His.main problem is his skillet great bottom and top game but no way to get someone to the ground with bad takedown also mediocre defense.

He would have been great as a leg lock based fighter like Hall.

Agreed he frequently dropped his hands in an exchange. I would argue he had a decent chin in Strikeforce which is why he never fixed it.

I would also guess he was hard to coach. He was at AKA and never fixed his striking issues. It is not like he was at Hammer House back in the day.

He was elite at MW....He just got too cocky and rushed the fight with Bisping which took a toll on him mentally.

Vitor aged Rockhold 15 years. Man kicked his hairline off, gave him wrinkles and everything

Rockhold's mistake was that he couldn't wrestle and couldn't box or take a punch. He had one of the best top games in MMA but didn't have a way to reliably get it there. He was great at distance with his brutal kicks but garbage in boxing range. Once fighters figured this out he was destined to fall off.

The Bisping fight in the moment was a huge upset but if you really look back at it, Bisping matched up well with Luke. He was a pretty good MMA boxer with a high workrate and while he didn't have huge KO power, Luke had the chin of a Bantamweight and as long as Mike kept it in boxing range, he was live.
