So my brain moves super fast and when I try to communicate my thoughts with speech I sometimes stutter or skip some details.. or both..

So my brain moves like this

12345678901234567......

My speech comes out like

1...2...4..7.9123..4...6......

Any other sherbros have this problem?

Yup.
I miss out words all the time when I'm talking and texting. I'm not saying I'm the brightest person but I have so much going in my head that stuff gets missed out a lot. I sometimes start conversations half way through what I intended to say. It's getting worse too, lol.

Yes. They say this is a problem for smart people lol. That's a nice way of putting it.

I think it's more like introverted people aren't good speakers and don't put themselves in a position they can hone this skill.

yeah, i do something similiar...but i stop midsentence and then try to put it all together to make sure i say it properly because my friends would be confused on what i just said, hahaha

Yea it's a bit of both for me. For simpler conversations I do ok.. but for more intellectual conversations where I have to process what's being said by others and what's happening around me.. that's when it really rears its ugly head..

My iq is somewhere around the 90th percentile too so there's that...

It wasn't a Mensa IQ test, just one in college and I got 156, I remember it because it was my previous house number. I have taken a lot of drugs since then, no way that would happen again. I wouldn't know where to start.

Speaking eloquently is a skill and there are things you can do to get better at it.

Not exactly...

Try sitting in a management meeting where an issue is being discussed but you see a potential solution and you can't effectively communicate it because you are thinking too goddamn fast and the giant egos in the room are taking you off track because they don't understand a few details (because you may have skipped a few details) and you never get your full idea across...

I guarantee you that it's not a great feeling

i present all the time for work and had this same problem. best advice i could give you: slow downnnnnnn. sounds simple as hell, but just know that there is nobody you have to race to get your words out.

Yes it happens to be all the time. Especially with everyone working from home, there are a lot more people interrupting each other on conference calls, which causes me to try to talk really fast to get my point out there before someone interrupts me. Which makes me make more mistakes, which makes me sound dumb.

in all honesty, my brain power has developed far beyond the capabilities of uttered speech

but, as a professor, I also constantly get practice in speaking...this allows me to better re-harmonize the thought-to-speech process

practice makes perfect
