As a fighter, we all already know that Edson is awesome.
Put that aside for a moment and I noticed in the pre fight hype package that the UFC airs before the main event (and it's been this way for a while) that Edson has such great positive energy. The way he talks about MMA sounds more like a person talking about their passion rather than a person talking about their job and this still being the case after such a long, tough career where most guys at this point harbor some sort of frustration, bitterness, resentment, negativity (understandably so in alot of cases) or just feel burnt out and after so many ups and downs, including some devastating, brutal losses. This sport takes such a toll on fighters but, he may be one of the most grateful, optimistic, and affable guys in MMA and he hardly (if ever) gets mentioned when we talk about the Mr. Congenialities of MMA (the usual being guys like Max Hollaway, Wonderboy, etcetera).
Now, about the fight. Great job showing such incredible resolve and resresilience! I swear he could have had that d'arce after the spinning wheel kick though! The next couple of rounds after that were tense. I didn't wanna see the fight slip away from Edson after almost finishing Sodiq in the third and after surviving such a hellacious first round himself.
If you appreciate Edson Barboza, can we show him some love in this thread?
