I miss Colby Covington

I might catch bullets for this, but I like some storylines from time to time. I'm a huge MMA fan and I get super excited for forgettable fight nights, but I also appreciate when the stakes are made bigger by a storyline. Jones/Cormier 2 was so much bigger, because they both hated their guts. Same thing for Conor/Khabib.

Now... of course most of Colby's beefs are purely fabricated lol, but I still find it interesting. I wouldn't want every fighter to copy him, just like I wouldn't want every fighter to be super bland and end every post-fight with ''thanks for the opportunity Dana, give me anybody for my next fight''.

My point is... I like variety in the UFC. We need some Conor/Costa/Strickland/Colby, just like we need Khabib/Cormier/Poirier/Glover. People here often act like they would like to see that first category completely disappear, but I feel like the organization as a whole is better when there's a bit of both.

I miss when he fought the top guys before his first titleshot. Now he's only worried about wasting his prime to win a stupid court case.

He’s 35 and got into a couple of wars with Usman. Even if he comes back for a fight, I don’t see him sticking to MMA for too long. His best bet is to be in pro wresslin.

Colby is a cringy try hard, and despite talking mad shit, is a coward who has the police deal with minor scuffles he instigated rather than take his shots like the man he claims to be.

I agree with most of this... but

I found Colby just painfully inauthentic.

I always felt like he was playing a character of what he thought a Chad type alpha tough guy is and maybe even showing a little bit of his own insecurities with his whole "nerds and virgins" shtick,
because let's be honest, Colby can't even talk candidly with professional media members who are literally paid to try to make him look good, you know damn well old "hover hands" couldn't talk to girls.

Painful character.. it's like when a major studio gets ordered to produce "the crow 2" or "starship troopers 2"..

If the jbg just got to adjust colbys stats with 20% less asshole and 20% more power we'd be good..

His tired weak game was always annoying and it just got worse the higher up the rankings he went. I miss his fighting don't miss his out of the cage garbage.

Colby is one of my fav fighters to watch just because he transitions from striking to wrestling so fluid, he’s also a beast on the ground, next to impossible to beat in a scramble
His fights vs RDA and Lawler were two of the most insane displays of cardio I've ever seen in MMA.

Dude's got the rare ability to fight at a full-on sprint for entire rounds at a time.

I hate his character and I find him annoying, but he's a fascinating fighter to watch.
