1. Hendricks Rematch with no USADA or VADA

2. Anderson Silva at 185 pounds

3. Robert Whittaker at 185 pounds.

He had legitimate reasons for not fighting all 3,

1. He was burnt out and wanted stronger drug testing
2. He didn’t want to change weight classes and give the weight advantage to Anderson.
3. Had Colitis and had a shitty time making MW.

But he still didn’t fight when he could have.

He’s like a much less extreme version of Conor Mcgregor.

Conor only fights when he has nothing to lose and everything to gain.

GSP fights when the positives outweigh the negatives for himself and his legacy.

He’s a smart guy.

Fighters don’t have the duty to move up in weight. Sure, it’s awesome and becoming champ champ is a whole new level of greatness but it could backfire badly. That’s why great ones rarely do so unless it’s an unbelievably convenient matchup, they have lots to lose. The one fight Gsp definitely avoided and people have the right to shit on him for is a Hendricks rematch.

Since GSP doesn't book fights not sure I would say avoided anyone. Silva was fought at 170/185/205... not sure that would of favored GSP at that time anyway but would of loved to see it happen.

With regards to Whitaker, he was 1-2 when GSP retired (before the Bisping fight). So not sure what you are talking about.

If fighters were investments then guys like Sakuraba and BJ would be GME - max risk, max reward, max entertainment. GSP on the other hand would be a savings account - virtually zero risk, virtually guaranteed single digit % per annum reward, 100% by the book and next to no entertainment value.

I'm far from a gsp zealot but he was on record before the Hendricks fight saying he was going through personal issues and was going to take a break; and, by all indications he had some serious colitis issues with the weight gain for the bisping fight which seems valid with how much size he lost since that fight by following strict diets

He was the favourite against Spider stylistically and would have beaten him.. While he did beat Hendricks via points.. Whitaker was however the danger he avoided because he was stylistically a nightmare
