I dont follow the comics,. but I saw this on my Youtube feed. I guess it's over after like 90 years. Batman died along with Joker and Catwoman in the comics.'

Kind of a shitty way to end an icon.

They've truly run out of ideas.

Traditional superhero comics are so strange to me. I understand why my 8-12yr old self was into them but maaaaan, as an adult idk dude. I love lots of Shōnen manga, but even those seem more mature and nuanced oftentimes than any Batman, Superman, spider man, etc.

The best time to stop reading Batman was 25 ur ago, but the second best time is right now baby

it sounds stupid. just the joker literally saying the quiet part out loud that everyone knew already. It's like a plot point written by a 12 year old who figured out Batman and Joker's dynamic for the first time.

These things never end in Canon so I tend to rank them in how hard they hit, their believeability and carry over effect, so for me the best Batman/Joker ending was in The Killing Joke .. but no none of them really lead to anything.

Edit: not the killing joke, I mean the Dark Knight Returns animated movies 1 and 2.

The Batman story can always be continued on for a long time. But Nolan Trilogy is the apex of it all.

Batman wasnt a traditional superhero in the same sense that the dudes who fly around and shoot fire were.

Year one established him as a guy who had to LEARN how to fight crime realistically (as realistically as a guy in a bat costume could be)

He made mistakes, he didnt always do the right things. When Robin died, he was for awhile spiteful to the criminals he caught.

Manga was always dealing with more mature themes than western stories, it's true, but there is nothing "strange" about the appeal of these stories.

He's died like 3 times. It's comic books.
They're not just gonna end one of the most popular fictional characters of all time, come on.
They should. They deserve a dignified end, not to be dragged forever into zombiehood slave to whatever cultural mores exist at a certain point in time.

I thought for sure it was going to be that the new Batman was a black guy.
