The savior of Russia?

Perhaps the world?

Seems as though he's playing chess, while other leaders are playing checkers.

A shithead who got his ass kicked by the Chechens, signed a peace treaty, and then bombed his own people to give himself cassa bella to reinvaded Chechnya. Russia's military sucks balls and the Chechens showed this much so now Russia has to posture and turn everything into a pissing match to prove something to themselves.

I imagine that if he left office right now that most Russians would think highly of him in the future, but I suspect he's going to be around for quite a while longer and he certainly has the potential to crash Russia with his games of chicken.

Pretty sure the world will look at him in the same vain as most Russian leaders of the past - better than Stalin, worse than Gorbachev.

Prolly depends on how events unfold in the next year in Ukraine.

(also, as a not-so-big fan of Pussy Riot)

Like pretty much every other politician a fucking scumbag. Lol at the op. Name me a single economic policy Putin has implemented. Putin is playing old maid not chess.

This.

I personally got mixed feeling about him. On international arena he is very strong (for now), and as a man (individual) he achieved some greatness, one gotta respect that. As a domestic politician he is absolutely terrible, and no comments on Ukrainian crisis.

EDIT: And i agree with Kevin Rudd...

No, he didn't, Putin started the second chechen war, which he won, it was Yeltcin who lost the first chechen war.

The greatest politician and world leader of our times, saviour of the Russian Federation and leader of its people.

The thug shit head that re-started the cold war, lets see how the people love him when the good old days come back. Like waiting in line for 4 hours for a couple of rolls of toilet paper.

I'll go with this.

I'm sure they have an Earth database which keeps track of all our thoughts and actions. Once discovered one day far in the future we will be able find who were really the true talents and who was a joke? :icon_chee

Best and most savvy world leader of the 21st century.

Well if he is planning to restore Russia then it's hard to say because he hasn't even really started that yet.

He could be the face of the new cold war.
He could be the savior of the new Russia.
He could be an over zealous fool who over estimated himself and got his ass kicked by the world powers.
He could go down as just another leader who's time will run out and be replaced.
He could sow the seeds for a more powerful Russia tomorrow, and in turn have his legacy over shadowed by his successor.

Personally I think Putin moves way too slow for someone who is supposed to have ambitions of reviving Russia's glory days. Guy is 61 years old. At this rate by the time Russia does get back on its feet (if it does) Putin will be retired or dead. By that time his successor would inherit a healthy Russia, and likely have more ambition because of it. I think it would make sense. If Putin does reshape Russia he's going to want to make sure the guy who replaces him is strong enough so he doesn't bow down to Oligarchs or the west.

We don't know because nothing major has really happened yet, at least nothing that will be considered MAJOR in the eyes of history, and as of right now he hasn't really had a lasting impression on the world compared to other renowned world leaders. We don't even know if Putin is a puppet to Oligarchs or his own man. He could just be a guy with no real plan, who saw an opening and took it, concerned only with his own ability to hold onto power.
