In one of the custom made belt threads a while ago (on another forum), I mentioned that I used to make and sell Bjj belts by hand. I stopped making them a few years ago, but some people were interested in hearing about how I made the belts, so I put up a couple of blog posts detailing the process. I figured there are enough custom made belt threads on here that some of you might enjoy the info.

Enjoy! If you have any questions, please don't hesitate to ask:

wow pretty good read. I like your diligence and determination to see the project all the way through! I was thinking this would be a really cool idea to do for my school, but then I saw "3-6 hours per belt" and quickly thought "never mind..."

anyways, really cool stuff, I love the DIY stuff so this was fun :)

Thanks! Yeah, it's time consuming for sure but since I'm also into DIY stuff it was a labor of love. I just couldn't keep up with getting supplies, broken machinery, etc...and I started working a lot more too so the 3-6 hours per belt on my one day off work a week didn't mesh too well lol.

Happy Holidays btw!

wow. its like how as a padawan u have to create your own lightsaber

i think it was part of or immediately prior to the trials for jedi knight status?

imagine this became a tradition, i.e. before getting promoted to one of the higher belts like purple, you had to make your own purple belt.

i think it would be cruel yet really funny to tell someone to make their own purple belt and get them all excited but when promotion day comes take the belt they made and give to someone else...

:) that would be a hell of a time consuming tradition!

Don't thank me, get back on the horse asap, as your work was top notch. I believe you could make a very nice part-time income out of it.
