How to kill the nerve endings in your shins

Im 15 and I was told that if I want to get serious in kickboxing/muay thai I should kill the nerves in my shins. How would I go about doing this? please help
 
I'm not saying that I'm a total genius, but I always believed that the best way to harden up for MT is to kick shit that's hard(but semi-forgiving) repeatedly.
 
I'm not sure what other type of answer you expected to get than the one above.
 
you dont want to kill the nerves, you want to toughen your shins. Killing your nerves will make you feel less pain but your leg will still break when someone checks your kick.
 
yes kicking bags( i prefer sand bags) is the way to do it

not you must do this process VERY And I MEAN VERY gradually over years to achieve the desired condtioning

also make sure to rub dita da jow on the area you are hardening it will help aid in the process. make your shins recover faster, and prevent any arthritis
 
Kick the bag, kick the pads and spar (with shin pads until your shins are really tough).

Don't do stupid shit like kick trees or roll a rolling pin on your shins.
 
Just cover em in Orajel, that should do the trick

By constantly building up the strength of your Tibia and the assosiated muscles, you are going to inadvertently kill many nerves in the same section of your legs. That can barely equate to broken bones in the same region.

this sounds good to me. my shotokan instructor used to have us do bone conditioning with our shins and forearms for blocking and kicking. we would get with a partner, stand close together, and full-blow low block each other, then inside block each other, then outside block each other, and then do a semi-hard round house kick against each others shins and practice giving and recieving leg kicks ect ect.

i dont think he meant that it would be the reason you break bones but rather it wouldnt be a means of strengthening your bones to prevent breaks

TS, was talking about getting into Muay Thai. You're not going to go very far without seriously working your shins. All I'm saying it that you can train without heavy bags, I'm just saying that you will get more out of kicking something a little less forgiving.

In around 8 years of Judo I did the same with all 6 sides of my feet with intance trainning.

That said I fin it much much much more freaking hard to do with shins.

I did bags until some skin got shred by the sandbag and got stuck waiting to recover.

I suggest taking it slowly. Been using "Tiger Balm" so far, will give dita da jow a go.

A realy realy realy old sandbag that hold with ducktape will be like rock.

if you want to go that route you can just get a weight lifting bar put whatever amount of weight you can handle and let it roll down you shins
 
Now keep in mind there's a difference between "kill" and "desensitize". You shouldn't want to kill the nerves in your shins, and that would be stupid as hell.

If you want to desensitize your shins, get a heavy back and whack on that dog with roundhouse after roundhouse. There's always some bullcrap floating around this topic about rolling bottles and baseball bats up your legs or kicking trees or something stupid. If anything, you're going to end up calcifying your bones (read: make them even weaker)

Just get a heavy bag and wail on it until you can't stand it anymore, then take a rest and do it again the next day. That's pretty much the only reasonable solution.
