I just bought a Ouano BJJ belt and it's freakin THICK!
Every time i roll it just slides right off. how do i break it in so it isn't so stiff?

Wash it and the stretch it out after it dries. A few cycles of that and it should be fine.

don't be a vag. Roll in it until it gets nice and soft. by the time that happens you know you've been training with it for a while.

also check out the youtube vid on how to tie your belt so it doesn't come undone, works wonders for thick belts.

use your belt for grip training.
wring it, kneat it, do pull-ups with it.

I havent washed my belt yet. It started out white but its getting pretty dingy. I have a triple weave gi. Its thick and hot as hell. All you can do to soften it up is wash it and air dry it. I wear rash guards and compression shorts under my gi to help wick away sweat which helps with the heat factor.

Don't keep washing your belt...wash it once and only once. Stick to tradition!

I agree with the other posters...EARN the softness. It's a sort of mini accomplishment when you look at your belt and you see it all frayed and destroyed. Know that you did that by wearing it and not sticking it in a machine. That said, after you train, don't leave your belt in some dark, damp environment....air it out after training.
