In your typical local scene where everyone is 1-0, fighters will fight 4-5 times in a year.
At the regional/feeder league level, this drop to 3-4.
Once a fighter gets to the major leagues, they start fighting 2-3 times a year.
Then when someone becomes champ or top contender, they start fighting 1 or 2 times a year.
Could it actually be that fighting less might extend their career? Imagine fighting 4 times a year for 4 years, versus fighting 2 times a year for 8 years? I think running consecutive training camps over years probably will leave you with more brain trauma then getting a break in between fights.
