How is the new like system..

How is the new like system LESS taxing on the servers?

That was the reasoning behind the likapocolypse correct?

In the new system, we are given 50 likes per 24hrs. Ok fine, limit the likes pull down some bandwidth usage so they say.

But it’s not as simple as that now is it??

Each like, has a time attached to it now. Run out of likes, you have to wait until your first like in your 50 hits 24hrs.

Ok that ones opened. Use a like and are out now, or two or three and run out again. Wait another unknown amount of time.

Every single users EVERY like, has to have a count down timer in the new algorithm.

How is this LESS taxing??

The like reset was the biggest load of shit I’ve ever heard / experienced on a forum.

Hundreds of other ways to lessen the work load on the servers / bandwidth.

if they did away with it entirely it wouldn’t bother me at all.

What I’m trying to have a discussion about is how this change affects the server load and site speed. It was supposed to be a net positive change, but from a technical point of view it seems it MUST be more taxing on the system. Which, is what I’m trying to discuss.

I have never seen a website where there's a limited amount of likes you can give. This literally is the only one I have seen in all of my years of browsing the internet.

Clearly Sherdog is doing something wrong or they have a motive.

When the likes systems first started coming to vbulliten driven forums, I was on one that limited your likes and dislikes in reference to how many you have received as well.

I don’t remember the specifics but it was something like If you gave out ten likes and it stopped you had to receive X amount of likes before you could give another.

And if you gave out x amount of dislikes you had to give out x amount of likes before you could dislike again.

There shouldn’t be likes anyway. If you like a post just message the poster and send them nudes.

Where the like button is, it should say “Send nudes”

You would have your “nudes “ to send uploaded already and it just sends them to them.
