How good was he? I remember watching the prime time or whatever it's called for the lead up to the GSP fight. I know he lost alot of fights, but for some reason when I was younger, I thought he was better than he was. I thought he had really good striking with no grappling. Was he just a bum who talked alot of trash with hype? I remember he lived with the Buddhist monks for a year and trained with them. I'm still a huge fan. Outlaw Nation!

To get a title shot he beat

Akihiro Gono, Rory Markham, Marcus Davis, and Mike Swick......so ya that tells you the level of competition he could beat. He was a guy who stood and banged and was from England. So the UFC pushed him hard on the public.

not greatly skilled,

but good on mic and great personality.

he is most famous for proving GSP couldnt finish an armbar or kimura.

better at analysis by far.

Yea that's what I thought. Was still one of my favs to watch though. I think we all have fighters we love who weren't the best.

Spoon fed a title shot, was dominated in title fight only praised for surving multiple submissions he's alright

Always been a fan of Hardy but he was limited.

Managed to lose in every way possible in that 4 fight skid, the Lytle one was a bad loss. Beaten at his own game on the feet then choked out after saying his mental game was too good to tap after the GSP escapes.

Dope commentator though.

Swick was the supposed #1 contender.

Then Hardy beat him and got the title shot instead.

he was actually very entertaining, but limited to stand up only

He was a good striker. Fringe top 10 at best in 2009. Couldn't cut it in the UFC in 2017

I thought during his peak that he had some of the best boxing/kickboxing footwork in the division.

He would constantly cut angles (45*) and would pivot a lot as well. Like as soon as the bell rang he off and cutting angles which I rarely saw many other 170ers do.

He worked on his ground really hard leading to the GSP fight and it paid off as GSP could only UD him.

He was a solid UFC fighter, but benefitted from one of the least deserving title shots due to gsps dominance

I ain't mad at him for that tho

He wasn't good enough on March 27, 2010. He was 23-6 leading up to that fight riding a 4 fight win streak in the UFC and a 7 fight win streak overall.

PS: If you see Dan, ask him how many lights are on the arena ceiling at the Prudential Center in Newark, NJ:)

Pretty solid striker with good heart. GSP and freaking Rumble Johnson couldn't even finish him

he's better at commentating - he's witty and knowledgeable, and a nice guy.

he also was lorenzo's love interest for a while

He could have easily finished both of those but didn't want to snap his arm and/or shoulder.

very entertaining fighter and very nice thai boxe in my opinion
i was fan of him and when he retired i felt bad about it
