Imagine that for some reason GSP decides to resume his career at 40 y.o. Where do you think his at right now? We know he never fully stopped training and in a great shape and probably healthier than he was against Bisping. Khabib thing aside, do you think he can still compete with top 5 at 170? Top 10? Top 15?

Top 10 or 5 at WW right now.
I can probably see him beating Colby, Jorge, Luque, Burns, Chiesa and Leon(hard matchup). That being said Usman is peaking right now, while GSP is out of his prime and Wonderboy is also a bad matchup for him IMO.
I think in his prime he can give a Usman a run for his money, probably a DEC win for GSP.

According to Conor McGregor only he and Anderson Silva are in front of him at GOAT list.

"GSP is in at 3. Much less array of finishes but champion status in 2. He is far behind though. Reasons = Left 170 after much damage taken+questionable decision. Never re-engaged 170lb successors. Bottled Anderson fight. Only moved when one eyed fighter presented. Played safe."

No idea, haven’t seen him since 2017 and that was against a declining one eye fighter. He hasn’t fought the new breed yet.
He could be BJ penn level or number 1. We’ll never find out.

The GSP that beat Bisping was the worst GSP we ever saw in the cage. Visibly slower and less explosive.

He comes back right now and I feel Luque would beat him back into retirement.

There's a reason he immediately retired and ducked Whittaker hard. And I don't want to hear about no intestine/stomach issue. As soon as people put him in the back of their minds he was talking about fighting Khabib and from I can gather cutting weight would cause havoc on his system because of his issues.

Top 5, dead or alive.

[UPDATE]

Wait you mean fighting right now? I don't think he'd do very well. I think you could pit him against a few guys like Mike perry, Mickey gall, Niko Price, or Alex morono. Maybe he could beat guys like Robbie and Maia, who most agree are clearly past it and vulnerable. Carlos Condit is another guy who is ranked too highly atm, he'd be favored against Condit even at 40.

But I don't think he does well against any guy a near decade younger with more athleticism, speed, power, and a full array of skills with tons of footage of GSP. There's almost no one in the history of MMA that could legitimately fight their way to a title shot and win it at 40, especially not in one of the deepest divisions today.

It would be hard to crack the top 20 without serious planning and good matchups, and even then GSP's chin won't be able to take some exhausting competitive scrap. He needs matchups where he can overpower low output opponents.

he might be top 6-10 but not top 5, definitely not champion

he doesn't need to be champion today, he had his time where he was the absolute best in the sport. guys get older and new generations of fighters come up. the newer fighters are usually better than the older fighters, especially in a young sport like MMA. it's the nature of the sport and of life, it's ok guys.

Lol. McGregor is delusional.

Idk how he would look coming back at 40 since he hasn't fought since 2017, and he hasn't competed at WW since 2013. I'd say he'd definitely be a lesser version of his prime self, that being said I think that a lesser GSP gives most top WW's a run for their money.
I know in his prime he would definitely be a top 5 right now and a strong possibility of being champ.

He would probably not be able to beat the top 5 but I think he could take out 5-10. GSP didn’t go out by getting beat up a bunch like Chuck, BJ, or Diego so he’s probably retained a lot more of his chin and skills.
