I can’t lose a single pound. Well, if I dehydrated myself I can lose maybe 5-7 pds that’s it. I’d be an underweight LHW @ 5’11, not making it to MW lol.

Sherbros, how do they cut weight? Just starve themselves? What do they do? I’ve always wondered what the process is.

Some fighters cut like 30 pounds or something for the fight, that’s crazy. They must have some tricks up their sleeves.

I do. Cardio 2x a week, weight lift 2x.

Ditch the carbs, sugars and processed garbage. Dont eat like a pig unless you are working out really hard. You can literally lose weight with zero exercise if you pay attention to what you eat. UFC fighters are insanely disciplined when it comes to what they eat. And on top of all that, they train hard and they dehydrate themselves before weigh ins. Not really healthy, but you dont have to be that extreme. Losing weight is really not that hard if you know how to do it.

This. And think about the training that they do, I think you could make the case that most combat sports athletes during fight camp might just burn more calories than any other sport.

I never cut wheight when I trained MMA but as a bodybuilder there is a lot of water im your body. Dieting and a small amount of diuretics is what I needed. I was 85 kg (185 lbs) on stage 6 weeks ago for a mens physique competition and gained 8 kg (20 lbs) in 24 hours after the competition. now I walk around at 100 kg (220 lbs). I felt like shit at 5.6% bodyfat so I can see really lean fighters having a lot more power at their natural wheight class. It's just my experience as a competitive amateur athlete though.

-they workout
-they go to saunas
-they take drugs to suppress their appetite
-they take laxatives
-they significantly decrease their watrr intake leading up to weigh in
-they eat a low carb diet (50 gm or less a day of carbs)

Compared to endurance athletes and even soilders in basic military, UFC fighters don't burn that much. I walk around 68kg, compete at 63-65kg and my TDEE can go from roughly 2200kcal a day to 3500kcal from an average training day during camp

I lift weights as a hobby . Cutting involves mostly consuming fewer calories than you burn. You dont even need to exercise, but lifting is preferable if you want to maintain muscle and burn extra calories. Its mostly diet, but cardio and other stuff can help. Peds is another solution, or things like green tea, caffeine serves as appetite suppressant

one is cutting calories and one is dehydrating themselves. Wrestling in HS some of the guys were cutting 10-12 lbs of water every week.

Rapid dehydration followed by rapid rehydration. You're 50-60% water, you can boil some off and be fine. Yeah you might shrink your brain who cares, it's about to get bashed in anyways.

If you are 5'11" and you would be "underweight" at 205 lbs you are either a fairly serious powerlifter or are currently quite tubby.

For most people, if they can get to low double digit BF they start weighing a LOT less than whatever their current weight is.

So other than HW, most UFC fighters are low double digit or high single digit BF. Combine that with a water loading to dilute the body's sodium followed by a sweating it out view sauna, hot bath, working out in plastic suit, etc, these guys can fairly easily cut 10% of their bodyweight. Sometimes even 15%.

According to Forrest Griffin per his book, he’d live on egg whites and distilled water until he was 215 lbs, cut 10 lbs of water for the weigh in, and rehydrate back to 215.

Well, I wasn't counting military, that would be another all day physical exertion. Endurance athletes would be a good one.

Why wouldn't you count military? Their calories burned are due to their training? Most sports that include running will exceed MMA fighters on a calorie intake
