Don't be naive. No coach (especially a puppet like Spo), could stop a Star from going into the game. If Bern wanted to be in, he would have been in.

He either couldn't at all, and Spo wanted to make it seem like Bern was a hero and wanted to power through, or Bern was a puss, and had no interest in coming in.
