First Dan asked for a breakdown on how I made my platform. I did not want to hijack Codiak's thread so I figured I would just put up a new thread. I made it using mostly things I had lying around the garage but here is the parts breakdown. Oh, the size of your rebound platform should be large enough so the speed bag can bounce off it at any angle. Since I am white, slow, and have no rhythm I have a larger speed bag, if you want a smaller speed bag then you can have a smaller platform if you wish.
-2x4 cut to two 24" lengths
-2x3 cut to two 24" lengths (you can also just use all 2x3 or 2x4 this is just what I had lying around)
-1" thick plywood cut to 24"x24" for platform.
-2 shelf brackets from Lowes (about 4 bucks each)
-4 5" long lag screws ( I think mine were 1/4")
-12 3.5" self tapping wood screws
-6 2" lag screws and 6 washers
-6 1.5" bolts and nuts to match
Using a stud finder I attached one 2x4 horizontally with a lag screw at each end into the wall at just below chin height. I did this again with the other 2x4 but this time it was about 20" above the first on. If you are looking at it on the wall it should look like an equals sign. Then I mounted the 2x3s vertically using the wood screws as in the picture. Now it should look like a pound symbol.
I would suggest attaching the swivel and the bag to the plywood board and putting it up to the frame on the wall so you can see how high you want the platform to be and mark it on the frame. Also mark where the holes in the brackets line up to the plywood platform. Once you have your marks attach the brackets to the 2x3s using the 2" lag screws and washers. Drill the hole in the plywood platform and attach it to the brackets using the nuts and bolts. That should be it! Sorry If I explained it not so clearly but you should get the idea from the pics. Since the platform is not real heavy I throw my 20lb weight vest on top and it really helps with the rebound. It is really easy I am by no means a talented carpenter(that would explain why it is so ugly!) so anyone can make this lil darlin' Happy building!!!

Here you can see the lag screws in the 2x4's and how the brackets and 2x3's are attached

Another angle

Be sure to measure so your swivel is perfectly centered.(you can still see my pencil marks)

Here is a side view with the weight vest thrown on top
Any other questions just ask
