I'm going to buy a new laptop. I've found good options but can't decide between one with a high res (1080p) screen or one with a touchscreen. Unfortunately I can't find anything with both within my budget. Which would you guys recommend?

I'll use it for some light gaming and will occasionally hook it up to a tv so high res is appealing, but Win 8 seems so much better with a touchscreen.

High res. Touch screen on a laptop is kind of a novelty. Most of the time you'll be using the keyboard anyway.

If it a new one, go with touch. It will have Win. 8 and touch will uses Win. 8 better.

Heard a lot of mixed reviews on touchscreen laptops especially the cheaper ones, i think high res is the way to go. A laptop with a small ssd and a larger hdd would be good.

^This. Touch screen on a laptop or a desktop is a gimmick. You really won't use it. Besides get smug marks over the screen and always having to clean it, your arms get tired from having to hold them up to type on the screen. A hi res display is something you'll truly appreciate.

I'd go with the high res too, if I'd want a touchscreen I'd get a tablet.
