It is silly to me when MMA fans claim a ball athlete can't make in the combat sports when there are plenty of examples that have already proven it can be done.

Current UFC Heavyweight Champion (Stipe Miocic) was a baseball player....

The Heavyweight Goat Fedor was finished by a former Minnesota Viking, Matt Mittrione.

Former Chicago Bears NFL lineman Bob Sapp beat the GOAT kickboxer Ernesto Hoost.

When GOATs in MMA and Kickboxing have been beaten by NFL Football players, then ball athletes have proven they can compete in combat sports.

Did Stipe also play in some kind of retiree league when he was in baseball?

Notice none of them were basketball players. And why do we talk about mythical a level athletes in the nba so much?

It's because NBA players are literally some of the biggest men on the planet that can also run, jump, leap, and have excellent dexterity, coordination, and cardio too.

I am not one of those who automatically assumes NBA players would make good fighters. But I acknowledge that a 6'6" guy who can move the way MJ did is an incredible human specimen, an outlier case.

"But but but this can't be!!!! I hate America...this can't be!!!"

I don’t think that’s the argument. The argument is that there’s more tangibles to being a great fighter than just athleticism. So you can be the greatest athlete in the world but that doesn’t mean you’re a great fighter. Was Bob Sapp a great fighter? Intimidating for sure. Great? Was Matt great?

This should just be merged with the greatest sherdog thread of all time.

He was a D1 college baseball player and wrestler, golden gloves champion as well. He’d sleep your bum ass

Oh, was he in the senior division in all those sports as well?

Stipe would probably fight today's Tyson and RJJ if he could.
