Henry Cejudo & Demetrious Johnson Rewatch Controversial Title Fight

44 minutes, no thanks.

DJ seemed off and CCC did fucking awesome...and he still only managed to eke out a controversial decision win, bringing their overall records to 1-1.

CCC will prob be remembered longer. Because of his mike skills. That's what's wrong.

No thanks on a 43-minute video. I was rooting for Henry but thought MM clearly won. The judges put way too much stock into Henry's takedowns, which he did nothing with. To me, it seemed like one of those situations where the underdog surprised people by doing much better than expected, which then skews perception of what's actually happening.

I’ve watched the one they did for the first fight. It was quite enjoyable to see them talk through the fights and had a few laughs here and there.

the first vid was just 16 minutes though but I might watch this one also.

agreed, same deal happened with TJ vs Cruz

MM said what I said . CCC won the split decisions because he backed MM up most of the fight and got multiple takedowns on him.

Glad he addressed why he though he lost. Sherdoggers just didn't get it. The fight was razor thin

Gottcha. Maybe I'll find time. Cheers.

I'm not going to disagree with you.

But this is a good article about this judging subtlety.

I think the author's argument is that MM is wrong.

Just a reminder to anyone who is sorta interested in the video but put off by the length. The toss up round was #2, (and only maybe a little #5), so what I'm gonna do is probably just FF straight to the corner after round 1 then watch that and all of Round 2 and that corner. Then FF again to the last round and watch that go the end.

Probably catch the most interesting things while saving a lot of time, though I'm sure they've also got a lot of sharp things to say throughout

Both guys pretty cool about the result of the fight. It 100% would be scored for DJ with today's rules, but back then was enough to change judges decisions. Cejudo didn't do much than hold DJ down, as soon as he tried to land strikes he'd get reversed. Was wanting to rewatch it, so having their commentary made it worth it. Seeing injuries from both guys makes you realize there is much more to fighting than you see as an audience. At the time I scored for Cejudo though, maybe I've changed with the judging standards myself.

they're way too small to really matter much tbh, still cool to see their fights just between higher weight class fights to chill
