Hendricks gets pushed to the side - Who is left for him?

Hendricks vs Rory if he wins or Condit

This is the thing guys.

You don't give someone who is on a 5 fight winning streak (with 3 of those being KO victories and 3 of them being over top 10 fighters) a guy who is on a 1 fight winning streak or who just lost a fight.

Condit just lost to GSP.
Ellenberger just beat Hieron, but got TKO by Kampmann (who Hendricks just KO in less than a minute).

It has to be Maia (if he beats Fitch), Rory (if he beats BJ) or.....no one else is on a winning streak in the WW division except Dan Hardy, Matt Riddle and Matt Brown (if he beats Swick).

Mike Pierce is on a little streak, his losses are VERY close decisions (including Hendricks), his last fight was a beautiful KO plus he is taking a fight on short notice. He should get a rematch with Hendricks if he beats Baczynski. Or we could look at it as Hendricks has a victory over all the top wrestlers in the division except Ellenberger , that fight could be good.

Marquardt if he wins his next fight in SF & makes the transfer over to the UFC

He should just sit out for 26 months waiting on his title shot, like he said he would.

A case could be made to have a Fitch vs Hendricks rematch. I mean Fitch has been the perennial number 1 contender for over 5 years and lost to Hendricks in under 15 seconds. It would be interesting to see another fight where Fitch actually protects his chin from that power left of Hendricks.

They could do Hendricks vs. Rory (if he beats BJ). Maybe killing GSP's training partner will be enough to get him a title shot.

I like this.

Can't believe they didn't give Hendricks a go at the title. Yea its not always about who deserves it in the UFC but my goodness does Johnny deserve his shot.

This is the first I have heard of it... How the hell does ufc justify not giving Hendricks the next shot?

"Jump through another hoop, Johny!!"

"Oh, did you lose? Too bad you don't talk a lot of awesome shit like Diaz, otherwise you might have deserved it even after a loss! Guess you'll just need another 5 KO wins!"

Perhaps short term, but long term I don't think so. You can't be the baddest man in the division if you don't believe in yourself. People called Jones c***y, but they guy never had a doubt in his mind that he was going to plow through any opponent the UFC put in front of him.

...except for Chael Sonnen, who had no camp and was coming off a loss to Anderson Silva, at UFC 151. I had to, sorry.

Anyway. I'd say either Rory if he beats Penn, Maia if he beats Fitch, or Condit if both of those situations fail.

He should get Condit. If he wins, he's clearly by far the #1 contender NO DOUBTS. If he loses, then Maia vs Fitch becomes very important. Maia would be #1 contender with a victory; Fitch, not so sure. If Fitch wins, Anderson Silva vs GSP while you determine a clear #1 contender.

Rory or Maia if they win, I guess.

Man Hendricks is getting screwed. As a big GSP fan I'm a little let down by him not willing to defend against the clear no 1 contender before Diaz.

On the thread topic I guess Hendricks could fight Maia if he beats Fitch, Rory if he beats BJ, or Nate assuming he wins his final SF fight.

Why has noone mentioned Kim?
Sick fight IMO with another highlight reel ko for the big rig

I completely disagree. For months people on here have been complaining about watered down cards. That problem is never going to get solved by having healthy fighters sit on their asses. If Hendricks wants to be the champ, he should have the confidence to fight anyone in that division.

A thousand times this.

Sitting out basically says to me "I think I can catch GSP with a lucky punch, but I don't want to miss out on my chance to throw that lucky punch by fighting someone else, because there's a good chance that I'll lose"

If you think you're the man to replace GSP....you should be able to fight anyone.

I'm so glad Hendricks isn't getting the title shot because to me he's nothing but a left hand. And a round 1, maybe round 2 left hand at that. Meaning if he doesn't ko you early...it's going to decision, and he'll probably lose.

His record backs this up. He's had 10 fights in the UFC. 5 were knockouts. 5 were decisions. 4 of those knockouts happened in the 1st round, only 1 in the 2nd round (against a weak chinned guy--charlie "the spaniard")

and the other 5 fights all went to CLOSE decisions. Seriously, check this out: Of his 5 decisions, 3 were split decisions...3, 1 decision was a UD loss. So out of 5 decisions, he only has 1 UD win.

That's why a Hendricks fight with GSP is so lame to me. Because Hendricks clearly has not shown the potential to be the better fighter, he just MAYBE can catch GSP is the 1st round. MAYBE. If he doesn't catch GSP in the 1st round, it's guaranteed to be a loss for Hendricks.

That's just not interesting to me. I don't want an entire fight to be based around whether or not Hendricks can land ONE punch in ONE round...otherwise the fight's a waste of tiem.

Maia? If he fights someone before GSP.
