Fit: My knuckles are 3.5" wide and my hand is 7.25" long (from wrist to fingertip). I've heard complaints about the finger loops being too tight but as I have skinny fingers and wrists, I find them very comfortable. The wriststrap is a bit long for my skinny wrists, but end up spot on when I use MMA handwraps (120"x1.5"). The wrist support is superb as has come to be expected of the dual-closure system.

Construction: All the seams are thoroughly stitched and I only found 3 loose ends in the stitching. The padding on the thumb and back of the hand are far superior to it's competitors and the padding across the knuckles is pre-curved so making a fist feels more natural and less like work. I like that Hayabusa accomplished a slimmer glove with just as much protection as a normal 7oz glove(this is a hybrid, so it's designed to be more universal than merely a grappling or sparring mma glove). I've used CSI IMF techs, Everlast, and some crappy no name brand mma training gloves and these are by far the highest in quality of construction.

Feel: I am not exagerating when I say the shock absorption upon striking is similar to 12-14 oz gloves I've used. My fist feels more dense and I feel almost no impact in my wrist even when throwing at full force. It literally feels like my hand is the glove when I strike. When I grapple in them (takedowns, pummeling, bjj, etc) I have a much easier time snaking my hands into openings and don't feel encumbered by the gloves padding. I would never use these to spar in these at full speed (just not designed for that) but they do great for everything else, especially ground n pound.

I was honestly on the fence about these gloves thinking they wouldn't do the job I needed them for, and I am glad I went with my gut. I am very satisfied and think these gloves will be perfect for anything except hard sparring. This is my first glove review, so if I left anything out or didn't answer a specific question please let me know and I'll respond ASAP. As a gym rat, I totally endorse these gloves.

Nice gloves, nice review. Can't go wrong with Hayabusa!

...But it's too bad I bought those 4oz gloves before these came out :icon_sad: can't really do much with them as awesome as they are.

Aww, you beat me to the punch. I was going to post my review within the next few days so I could give my impression of them after using it for about 2 months.

I would still be more than happy to share my experience with them if anyone is curious about picking up a pair. Highly recommended.

Awesome review. The pics on various websites did them no justice. The padding is so much smaller than I expected, but apparently doesn't take away from it's performance.

5/5

Might as well do one as well mate, best to have your own personal experiences and opinions on the product itself.

But OP, great review. I've been thinking of picking up a pair of these for myself.

I wear mine with and without wraps depending on the intensity of my training and if im switching with holding mits or not. I picked up the lg/xl and I measure in at about 3.75" across my knuckles. Even with 180 wraps they fit great.

The only thing I might bring up is that the extra cross directional wrist strap can sometimes catch my everlast 180 mexican wraps as I put them on which can leave that frizzy dethreading you get when velcro touches fabric. I don't seem to have that problem with my 108 cotton wraps so i've been trying to use those with my gloves.

has anyone ever tried these gloves on a BOB (body opponent bag)? they look good to practice the clinch & be able to grab the back of the head of BOB

now I'm seriously considering getting them hearing that they're 7.5oz

^ what's your hand size to begin with??

I have girlie hands. For the Hayabusas I would go with a S/M and with wraps it'd be a decent fit. It's about 7.25" around my knuckles but I have girlie fingers and wrists.

No, but I have a BOB in the club im working in now. Luckily I also happen to have my Hayabusa Hybrids with me to do some sparring with someone im coaching later tonight so ill be right back in like 5-10 mins to test it out and let you know.

The Hayabusa hybrids work really well with the BOB dummy. I personally dont prefer trainging on a BOB because I usually get that grippy feeling when I hit it with gloves being that the surface is rubbery. Regardless, the padding protects my knuckles well and I was able to pull off a few combos on it without feeling sore. If you only have these gloves and nothing else, you can get by using them on a BOB but being that they're designed to be mma sparring gloves, i'd recommend to save them for sparring partners and use bag/training boxing gloves on a BOB instead.

Mark - I wear MMA wraps when I know I'll be punching with force, but like Arkitekt said, wraps make them tricky to get off/on easily so not the best feature if you're trying to use them on mitts intervally with a partner. Still, I like them better with wraps, as you can nearly cut off circulation to the hand with the dual-closure system.

Metsudragon - In my opinion, the Winning Shooto glove is based on a more traditional hybrid glove design and since I've never even tried a pair on I can't make the comparison. But I have worn a pair of Ouano Shooto gloves and I simply prefer the fit of the busa's.

tiger - I just used a digital scale and each glove weighed exactly 6.22oz .... maybe the L/XL size is a true 7.5oz?

I just got my pair today, will put a review up probably in a week or two though.

Can you fit 180" wraps in 'em mate? I got a very discounted pair of Hayabusa wraps so I jumped on those as well. I tried but I'm actually a noob in hand wrapping so.. yeah. I tried fitting 'em in once and it was a bit hard to fit in as both of you have said.
