.. Now this is a question to all of the posters. Not just the ones that train.

Have you ever punched someone in the face bare knuckle in a confrontation? It could've either in self defense or heat of the moment. And if so..when in your life did it first happen?

I'm only asking because for me, I never hit a person in the face with my bare fist till i was in high school. It was like a mental block for me. I WOULD have confrontations with kids when i was younger which would honestly be settled with a punch to the solar plexus. But for some odd reason i could not bring myself to ever punch someone in the face even if i had just taken punches myself.

BUT when it came to the occurence in high school, my head had got pushed into a rigid cement wall :icon_cry2 , and thats when my adrenaline dumped and i just "snapped" as they say. I remember just rushing in, head down, just grabbing him by the collar and swinging wildly with only my left (my power hand)..pretty much just a display hockey boxing until we were seperated and i was allowed to chill out and let my rush die down.

And for the first time i was like "Wow!..i hit someone in the face after all these years, and it didnt feel half bad. in fact, it felt mighty fine! :icon_chee " Now those of you who've had the misfortune of having to dish out knuckle sandwiches know the feeling im talking about. The grotesque, yet oddly pleasant meaty *smack* when you connect cleanly. The rush i must admit was invigorating although it was the sloppiest of scuffles. (i really honestly dont condone pointless streetfights, and it sucks when you're the unwilling combatant, but when they happen, a primal part of you just cant help but to embrace it and act out.)

And after that one incident it was no problem for me to strike someone in the face if i ever had to. Not that i went around bashing everyones face in after that. I'd like to think im a pretty passive guy, considering it took not PUNCHES to the face, but my head into a wall before i finally snapped and retaliated by hitting someone in the face. freakin weird huh?

So whats your story?

Nope, never. I've always hit to the body for some reason - either punches or knees. I'm probably subconsciously afraid of breaking my hand on someone's face.

fight with a cousin..... it hurts your hand if you do it wrong... and if you've never trained... your prob gonna hurt your hand....

b4 i started training mma i took some TKD, and i learned about throwing open hand shots to the head... now that i know how to throw a proper punch, i'm not as scared to punch someone in the face, but i know if need be, i can still use the palm strikes....

the funny thing is that i think i elbowed more than i have punched... oh well. Personally, i think that elbows hurt more than punches and it "sobers" up your opponent really quick. the stinging discourages people to fight.

Broke my hand on brothers friend in front yard. te 2nd smallest one it was an uppercut i thought he said something bad about my brother.I punched him with right uppercut..he fell i jumped on his back and hit him in the ribs( man i sucked didnt even go for the choke!) This was 4? yrs ago. Didnt go to hospital. That bitch hurt! My hand lol.

3 yrs ago Guy drove up in my yard and we had problems with him i went outide ( after i just lifting for an hour..when i used to lift stupid) told him to put his hands up i counted to 3 strait right knocked him down he grabbed leg actually got me on my back for 1 second.Surprising but i was exhausted..I grabbed the back of his head with my left hand put my right thumb in his eye and rolled him then beat him for 2 minutes in full mount. Hurt my hand. Think mighta rebroke. FYI my sisters BF at the time his friend bought a tazer gun the next day i think because he saw me LoL. Boy had a blood bubble under his eye for 4 months i heard. Yay.

Guy threw my ex girlfriend about 2 yrs ago i ran at him hit him with straight right he stumbles back 5 ft against walli grab him fling him thru his grandmas 200 yr old table hit him in the face a few times with left hand while his back was to me. I grab his neck choke him...after about 15 seconds i let go he was done. When i stand up i drive my elbow into the back of his head 2x man i really messed my elbow up but i bet his head hurt the nex day. I could put my arm straight for a day...as we leave in my my crazy state i try to burn his truck down with a candle. LOL. Then as we drive away we hear a gunshot. Guess i shoulda sqeezed till he went limp huh.

Havnt fought street fight since then. Fought a toughman against a runner up golden glove boxer and lost on points when i was outta shape but thats all.

As i think back just watching UFC really helped my fight game LOL.Progressivly got better... Id kick my old selfs ass thou. That makes me feel good.
I dont start fights. I just defend myself vigorously.

that was such an effort to read...

I've punched quite a few faces usually it was a flurry of punches not really getting a lot of power. I've had minor damage to an untucked thumb doing this.

Once I delivered a fairly irrelevent uppercut then followed it with my hardest left-cross to the jaw: a perfect punch from a well balanced position with full explosive contact. The man went down like he'd been shot.

My hand was uninjured but there was plenty of black bruising around most of the hand. It didn't cause any lasting damage though.

so this is the wussified, pathetic beta male levels to which society has now sunk..

First time I can remember was in first grade.
I haven't been able to stop since.

Yes I have, but I don't really like to talk about it. However I will say this - conditioning my hands to fight without wraps or gloves paid dividends. A persons face is not any harder than a makiwara.

I've punched several people in the face bare fisted starting my freshman year in high school and most recently about 6 months ago...

At the same time...I've been smacked a couple of times myself!

Yes, and I fucked up my hand on all occassions. As lame as it sounds/looks, the palm strike has served me better.

The first time I remember hitting someone in the face was in Jr High when a group of guys used to bully me because I had a crush one's GF. One day I had enough and I shoved back and then gave the guy a black eye. None of those guys fucked with me anymore.

I think the part that felt so good was that I stood up for myself and got revenge for all of the shit they gave me. I got suspended from school, and in trouble at home, but it was all worth it.

QFT, the last two times i punched someone, several years ago, i broke my hand on both occasions. That sucked.

brasil...mmmm....huh????.... oh, I'm sorry were you saying something?

I'm one of the lucky that never breaks anything, but it hurts like hell when you accidentally hit a brick wall instead of air.

I once hit somebody on the eyebrow opening a huge cut
I once knocked somebody his teeth out
I once blocked a punch with my forehead and that hand was broken. It was the only punch ever thrown at me :icon_chee

I'm undefeated in streefights :D, my biggest victory being a throw that split open the cross of a guys jeans.

But that whole fighting thing was like 10 years ago. Girls or guys, I solve problems verbally.

I have many times and my recommendation to you is never hit to the forehead if you like your hands.

It's not worth it to hit someone man your hand feels like shit and if you touch it our when you sleep it hurts like hell, especially if you maybe hit a bit wrong you're not always going to hit correctly in a "scrap". You'll probably jack your thumb up sooner or later and the fingers are such puny little.. things.

For real man don't punch anyone it hurts like fuck, use your knees and strangle them with the two-hand front choke! bwhaha

yeah i punched this african in the temple with a right haymaker that sent his glasses flying across the room.
