Has there ever been a better example of the infamous Dana White Privilege?

Creating stars≠preferential treatment.

Highly subjective and arguable

I'd like to hear an attempt at sorting the difference.

Is it Late night show appearances vs. favorable match-ups? sponsorships?

Cuz I bet Suzy Joe Fighter Smith thinks they're all preferential treatment for Candice McRousey

Alright, you lost me here.

Building a star is like what they did with Max Holloway. Fought fighters of all sorts of styles, all close to his age when he was on his rise for the most part. Is Paddy getting the same treatment or is he fighting older vets that shouldn't have even been competing in the UFC by the time they fought him?

That's not the only way to build a star in combat sports. It's arguably a poor way.

Max got over by winning.

Look at this stat
Max vs Dustin - 200k ppv buy rate
Conor vs Dustin - 1.6 million ppv buy rate

I can easily argue, avoiding tough fights and getting good match-ups is a better way to make a star.

Regardless, my original point was, anything the UFC does to promote a single fighter will be perceived as preferential treatment by other fighters and fans. Because ultimately, it is.

Alex Pereira had the fastest and easiest path to the title.

I mean 3 ufc wins and by his 7th mma fight.

Bobby Green didn't shoot for a takedown.

His leg was kicked out from under him, and he fell into a TD.

That's what it looked like, and that's what he said happened.

Already shooting before the foot touches him...

Anyways, you found a better example of the DWP then with Paddy? I'm seeing a lot of kinda weird shilly posts that don't really seem to care about the actual problem and I guess are just Paddy fanboys.

That's a reaction, no forward movement.

The kick removes his footing and he falls forward.

the actual problem

boo hoo. a fighter gets highly promoted, finds success, and/or gets beat up for it. Sherdog plz fix prize fighting. make it fair and all the same

I'm sure all y'all pimps already got this one figured out, but I'm at a loss here with the supposed Baddy fighting for a strap. And I go and look at his record to see if I'm crazy and it just gets worse.

2022 he fights 4 times and gets 4 wins despite losing to Jared Gordon.

2023 he fights once and beats Tony, lol.

2024 he fights once again and this time beats King Green after Green shoots on him? WTF, right? I did hear something about the FBI investigating predetermined decisions, but weird either way.

2025, again he fights one time and he beats Chandler who has done exactly what? I mean I love Mike's fights and his spirit, but he's really not that good at fighting.

The truth is that he has exactly 0 wins over top 10 top15 fighters. Guys like that must get shots at the belt all the time and I just can't remember I guess.

Little help, pimps.

I’d say…

(1) Dan Henderson 2-4 in his last six fights, ranked at the bottom of top 15 and got title shot.

Biggest Dana white privilege ever.

(2) Alex Pereira got super rushed into a title fight with Izzy.

Paddy wouldn’t crack the top 10.

I remember people said Sage was protected, Paddy is the new version only pushed harder. Other recent examples of DWP include Covington and Lopes, but Paddy's resume is plain awful.

But Arman is "unlikeable" so a few simps will eat shit and smile.

There is an interesting parallel involving another Brit.

During the GSP title run,,, said to be the greatest time in that division, Dan Hardy was granted a title shot following a decision over Mike Swick and a split-decision over Marcus Davis.

Paddy has beaten some fighters with names and is undefeated in the UFC.

He has pulled the rabbits out of his hat without fail.

Hater dogma at its finest. Facts are hes 7-0 in the UFC. Had a close fight with Gordon BECAUSE he blew a knee early that needed surgery funny that IS never mention.
Beat Green faster than Islam who got a title shot for this.
Dominated tony a ranked opponent and former interim champion.
Dominated Michael "only loses tuff fights to top guys" Chandler, who months before was close to finishing #2 Charles... but he now suck and is old since Paddy won. The same chandler who beat hooker easier than Arman, Islam, Gamrot, Dustin.

This trash thread is saying he doesnt fight top guys now he's matched with Justin to dispell your myth. But you also hate him fighting jusin for a lowly interim title and when he wins jusin will be a bum who got finished by khabib and fws.
While he'll be 8-0 interim champion drinking your tears.

This sir is a very real possibility !

Paddy is gonna win. Probably easily. Still love Justin tho. Just past his prime. Paddy gonna be a lot bigger than him

I disagree. Roger Huerta was a fighter the UFC really, REALLY wanted to succeed. He sure did get some gimme fights but then he got a true test in Clay Guida that he won and that showed he belonged in the upper echelon of the division and then he got Kenflo who beat him. My point is, the UFC is supposed to be the premier league, we shouldn't be seeing fighters carried all the way to a TS. At some point it should be sink or swim.
