Tatiana my favorite fighter but she definitely looks like she's lacking the explosion and athleticism she did before the injuries. I don't know how to post clips but that double leg she shot against Andrade looked a little labored, telegraphed and shot from too far out (Carla Esparza style). I could just see Weili capitalizing off for that.

Pre injury I would've predicted Suarez would've steam rolled Zhang , but Iim having my doubts now. I think pound for pound Weili is just as strong and definetly more agile than this version of Tatiana. How much of this is ring rust and how do you think a match between Zhang and Tatiana would play out?

As someone with a chronically bad neck that is likely no where near as fucked up as hers was/is, it amazes me that she's managed to come back to competition at all.

But I can't see how she can be the same as before. Might still be enough, but Weili is probably as stylistically difficult as it gets for her at SW. Lots of people pointing to Dern, but I think the wrestling disparity tips it in Suarez's favour.

She just dominated a former champion. I think a lot of it has to do with how much time she’s missed. I bet she gets that belt

You know who else were former champions? Anthony Pettis, Tyron Woodley, and BJ Penn, and look at how their MMA careers ended up.

Yeah really. I'm really invested in her journey after overcoming cancer. I lost my mom and aunt to cancer about 6 years ago, which was around first time I heard her story and watched her fight.

I'm sorry to hear that. I lost my mom to cancer about 5 years ago and it was brutal.

Yeah, now that you mention it, I did have kind of a soft spot for Tatiana because of that and was worried when she was out with "undisclosed issues". Nature can be cruel.

Probably. She was out for 4 years and went through hell to get back to competing. However, even if she's lost a step, she's look good as hell coming back. She has excellent wrestling technique to go along with her physical gifts (even if a bit diminished) and that goes a long way. The takedown she got on Andrade in the first was beautiful. Started looking like nothing but grabbing an ankle, but she stepped over so quick that Andrade couldn't even react to defend. She's a huge threat to anyone in the division.

She’s the next ufc hype train with a thick neck to go down. We’ve seen this before. Rose or Weili wreck her.

I think she's good enough to beat anyone who's held the SW title, which she has over one this past Saturday, but Andrade was probably the weakest of the 5 SW champs besides Carla. I would have liked to see her vs Johanna before she retired, their timelines just didn't line up. I'd give her a 50/50 chance vs Rose, but I think she'd have the toughest time with Wheelie Zang, just based on their contrasting styles. I'd rather see Tatiana fight for the title than that godawful point fighter Xiaonan.

Suarez said post-fight that this is the first time she didn't explode for a takedown attempt within the first minute. Said she felt comfortable on the feet. Her game planning with her coaches looked excellent and it was designed specifically against Andrade. Southpaw kicks to the body and circling away from Andrade's power shots. Perhaps what Suarez has lost in explosiveness she has gained in other areas like fighting more patiently. Her wrestling and grappling looked great as always.

Game plans for each opponent are so different. Weili and Lemos are scheduled for August 19. We'll see how that one plays out. Suarez and her team will be looking for weaknesses in both fighters to exploit. Mainly I hope Suarez stays healthy and will fight for a title. As of now I think Weili is her toughest potential opponent. Yet Suarez is undefeated and that's a pretty big deal.

Probably the only girl I would favour over her at SW is Weili. That’s because Weili is still improving. If you know what you’re seeing it’s pretty obvious, imo. I think we are going to see that fight within about one year.

Then we’ll know for sure.

Zhang KOs her inside 3,her wrestling will never be as good as Saurez but will be at the level to not get wrestlefucked and she definitely isn't getting subbed, Zhangs speed and power will be a huge problem

She looks good as ever

I don't know what you're tripping about

She looks like she's been gone for a long time and pissed it's been so long
