How good a view do the judges actually have?

There's an article approving 7 inch lcd monitors in Nevada but that's still small af.

Are you able to see things clearly or is there a ton of obstruction in the form of pillars, cameras and camera men, fencing, etc.?

I remember one of the judges from Shogun Machida I saying, after rewatching the fight, that he would have scored a round differently and would have given the round, and therefore the fight, to Shogun. Unfortunately, he said he couldn't see some stuff that was happening because of a "pillar" (I'm guessing he meant the post that the fencing is attached to).

This is an extension of the judging thread. I wonder how much of an impact visual blockage can happen.

I've gone to 2 ufc events

I much prefer watching from home, to be honest

Pro wrestling is much more fun to watch live than MMA is IMO

I was there for Mania 17.

Went to the UFC 136 pre-show but not the actual event. Got to hang out with Sherk and Renzo for a bit.

I only went to Fight Nighs because thats all the maritimes will ever get.

Went to Mania 22 and it was a pretty awesome experience.

I photographed fights for IFL and Bodog. These were rings so I leaned on the apron to take the photos.

I was so spoiled by doing that for free,that I didnt really want to go to events as a regular schmuck and sit in the nosebleeds. I still go to local smaller events though.

In IFL,the teams were all ringside. So I remember Vladimir Matshusheynko warming up right near me,shadowboxing and movin around and I just thought,DAMN,I would not want to fight this guy lol.

That's probably the best way to help the sport grow.

the box seats are amazing …. All you can eat and drink and have your own personal bathroom for your box

front rows are shit …. Gotta pay for drinks and a nightmare if you drink 20 beers and have to piss …. And the view sucks …. I literally watched the jumbo tron

happy to say I did a few times and felt the energy when gsp fought Serra in Montreal rematch - that was kool as hell

but In general I wouldn’t recommend ringside to anyone

I would hope they can see at least what we see at home and on a decent monitor or that in itself would be hugely problematic.

Only time was in Philadelphia for Gaethje versus Barboza. I was in the second row, not the first.

It was an amazing experience and by far the best viewing and entertainment experience of anywhere I else I sat for a UFC fight. Amongst the best live sporting events I've attended and I've been fortunate enough to see lots of different events across different sports.

But yeah, of course it's easier to see what's happening in all areas by watching a TV screen. The camera guys do indeed obstruct your view occasionally and things like that.

Does your employer give you tickets or something?

Strongly disagree about cage-side seating though. I had floor seats for Gus versus Rumble, and yeah, I'd agree with what you said if applied to floor seats. But being right at the front was easily the coolest, most surreal, immersive, and memorable experoence I've had. Box seats make people feel special since they're being catered to by staff, I've sat there for hockey games, but I as far as a live viewing experience goes I think it's real lame.
