First of all those are his exact words. Link below.

Second, if MMA training is so rigorous, and these guys are training for hours multiple times a day, how can they be so fat?

I play basketball for an hour or two every other day, eat like a pig, and drink alcohol everday. And I have <10% body fat.

MMA training methods must be garbage. You don't see fat boxers who gas after one round. In fact, I can't think of any sport where the athletes are as fat as, get injured as often as, or gas as fast as MMA.

If Hardy were still an A-level athlete, he'd be earning millions playing pro sports. I think he likes the fat, lazy MMA lifestyle.

"Best athlete on the planet"?

Yeah, that's a C-level athlete. Take an A-level athlete, such as prime Cristiano Ronaldo (CR7), give him 1 year of training in an elite camp, and watch him wreak havoc on at least 2 distinct weight classes

Can you imagine Soccer players in MMA? They can't even endure a gust of wind without flopping.

310.... so no double-belts for our guy

If you haven't realized by now that individual metabolism speed varies, then I can't help you. Your metabolism is obviously a furnace. My brother in law's the same way. In his early 40s, and he puts away at least 4000 calories a day without getting fat.

People rag on Cormier and Gastelum for being fat, and that might be true, but they still have endomorphic builds and will put on ten pounds in a week if they're not careful.

Greg Hardy is a top tier athlete. He may be not taking his MMA career seriously but make no mistake he is more athletically gifted than Ronaldo and McGregor combined.

He played D1 college football and basketball in the SEC. Occasionally you will see a football player who also plays baseball, but not basketball, that is something you see once every five years. The guy was an edge rusher thats arguably the most important position in football outside of the QB.

Its a shame Hardy did not use his athleticism to develop into a top tier MMA fighter ala Ciryl Gane.

Can't believe we're still doing this "A-Level" athlete thing.

Actually... it's Sherdog so I can, but it's dumb.
Fine, let's completely discard the A-level athlete thing, which means athletic potential, which is a real thing. Which is why you or I will never look like or run as fast as prime Carl Lewis, no matter how much work we put in.

I am fine with putting that aside. How do you explain six hours of training a day and these guys still being fat and out of shape?

Is MMA training broscience run amok?

CR7 is the best athlete in the planet, 2 divison world champ Conor looks like a homeless junkie next to CR7.
