I made a thread a while ago about who the best southpaw boxer of all time and got some decent discussion going, and it looks like, could be wrong about this, cuz I haven't counted them, but Manny is getting the most love, then Whitaker/Hagler, or something like that

Now, who would be the greatest orthodox boxer of all time? I guess this one might be tougher because there are probably a lot more prominent orthodox boxer than there are southpaws....

On a side note, who would win between prime Duran vs prime Mayweather? Probably one of the finest orthodox boxers we have seen in recent times...?

Sorry, I ignored that bell end. He can have his Pulev before he gets banned for knowing nothing.

Someone should let him in on that gag before it runs any longer. When people start taking it seriously, by people I mean just him, I feel like I'm high or intoxicated despite being sober. At first I thought that he was pretending to buy into it only to troll, which would've been funny.

There's less southpaws so it's almost easier in some ways to have that conversation. With orthodox, the subjectivity becomes even more obvious. I would say Ray Leonard and Ray Robinson are up there. I would also put Roberto Duran and Harry Greb in there. But there is an extensive list to draw from. What about Benny Leonard? Joe Gans? Joe Louis? Ali will get mentioned, as will a whole list of others.

Impossible to say, but for the sake of conversation and hearing other's thoughts on the subject, it's fun.

surprised RJJ wasn't dropped yet. Historically it's tough to come up with someone who could beat him from 160 to 175 ...I wouldn't bet against him no matter who the opponent is.

Robinson was beaten by guys like Lamotta, Basilio and Fullmer, and allegedly ducked the murderers row.
I can see him lose to a bunch of other guys, like Leonard, Hearns just to name two. He was great, but his greatness gets generally exaggarated.

SRL, RJJ and Jamey Toney are IMO the three most talented boxers from the past 40 years.

Robinson was a WW in his prime and gave up weight to fight MW's. Can't say I'd pick him to surely beat Roy due to the size difference but he was more accomplished and had a more textbook boxer/puncher style.

If by murderers row you mean Burley at MW then maybe that's true but I'm not aware of anyone else he might have ducked. Aside from the LaMotta fight that he lost early in his career his other losses came at the end of or past his prime and against bigger guys. He won some rematches also and really they weren't such ugly losses as the ones Jones suffered at the end of his career.

James Toney with or without a stomach full of McDonald's?

I wasn't trying to talk Jones vs. Robinson, just generelly everyone in history who could beat them.
It's tough to bet vs. Jones in three different weight classes, while I can imagine Robinson lose at 147, 154 and it's not even debatable that he could be beaten at 160. Marvin Hagler would be a work load for him, I don't think Robinson could keep him off of him.

Let's be serious here. AFAIK Toney was a regular Wendys and Taco Bell ....I never saw him eat a Big Mac.

Lol, hagler would be a tough night for anyone. Comparing people of similar size srl wouldn't be easy.

I don't agree with you entirely but I see your point. Just curious who you think was better at 47, 54 and 60 than Robinson
