OK...
I have to reply to this thread because the above post is very misleading. The above posters is grossly misinformed, simply doesn't know much about BJJ in Windsor, or egregiously misleading you about your options. As for that I'll let you determine.
Your options for training in the Windsor and Surrounding Area are much more prosperous and robust than the above poster is implying.
Firstly, if you were interested in
No-Gi/MMA you have the following options:
Maximum Training Centre (
http://www.mtcwindsor.ca/), &
Central Combat (
http://www.centralmma.com/)
I suggest you check out their website for more information.
Secondly, if you interested in straight
Brazilian Jiu Jitsu you have the following options:
Brazilian Jiu Jitsu Academy of Windsor (
http://jiujitsuwindsor.com/)
aka the school with apparently no hours (this isn't the case as you can see here
http://jiujitsuwindsor.com/classSchedule.php)
Also, their instructor Jeff Robert is a Brown Belt in BJJ under Caique (not a purple belt) and has been training for nearly a decade if I remember correctly (
http://jiujitsuwindsor.com/instructors.php)
I know that there school is more geared towards self defense (Helio Gracie style), but definitely worth checking out.
In addition to that, there is another school (
my academy) that the above poster failed to mention at all.
Tecumseh Jiu Jitsu (
http://tecumsehjiujitsu.com/)
We are a Ribeiro Jiu Jitsu Association School. Our original instructor Dean Hersche, who passed away last June, was the first Black Belt in the Windsor Area.
Our current instructor Eric Marentette is a Brown Belt under Saulo Ribeiro (
News Story).
We compete regularly in all major tournament (IBJJF, Grapplers Quest, Etc.) and do very well.
In addition to that we have Jiu Jitsu wonder kid Dante Leon (
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=jp3vnyAS11k) teaching every Tuesday at the academy.
Dante is a multiple time IBJJF World Champion (2011 Open Weight Champion, 2012 Gold + Silver in open) and is sponsored by Origin Gi and Fresh Acai Bowls.
So needless to say, Brazilian Jiu Jitsu in the Windsor Area is thriving and vibrant.
My advice to anyone settling into a new area is to check out all the academies and make an educated decision as to what is the best fit for you.
Good luck!
