Hey guys, I've been doing a lot of searching on the net for a good school near my sister's place (where I will be visiting for a month, I live in Egypt).
I was looking for a good BJJ school (main concern) but would like it to have some MMA/MT/wrestling classes also, sort of a big mix :)
I searched many sites and reached a conclusion that the best are (Jorge Gurgel's Ohio MMA, Sons of Siam, Drive MMA a new place opening this month, Cincinatti Jiu Jitsu but this one is only BJJ with no other classes)
I'm mainly going there for training, so would be doing classes twice a day, the best in the sense of having many classes a day (could get up to 5 or 6 hours a day) are JG & Son of Siam.
My main problem is that these two gyms are like 15-25 miles from my sister's place (Deckebach Ave Cincinnati, 45220) and I don't know if I'll be able to find public transportation (bus or anything) to get to and from there.
I really hope some of the guys here living near there could give me some hints or instructions.
Thanks a lot and sorry for the long thread :)

I may be biased but if you're looking for a complete training experience then Jorge Gurgel's is your only choice. Blackbelt Jon Stutzman teaches most of the BJJ classes and he is phenomenal. Jorge Gurgel and Dustin Hazelette also teach classes from time to time. For Muay Thai they have Dorian Price (who was on The Ultimate Fighter show) teach who is one of the best in the Midwest. They also have boxing, wrestling, weights, fitness, etc. They just moved into a top notch brand new facility.

I don't know the exact stops, but the SORTA bus lines go to West Chester where the gym is. Check out there website for maps and schedules.

vision mma is also pretty good, lots of up and comers train there. its cheap too check it out visionmma.com

Thanks a lot guys, I sent the guys at Vision MMA a mail for the fees and so, but I'm actually also biased to Jorge Gurgel's Academy, the class schedule is most convenient for me, I found a route to there on the site (SORTA) but it starts pretty far from my sister's place, don't think it would work.
Do you guys live in Cincinnati, do you have more info on the buses??
Anyway I really appreciate your help :)

The best places in Cincinnati to train BJJ are:

Cincinnati Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu Academy: Jim Kelly (Pedro Sauer black belt)

JG MMA Academy: Jorge Gurgel (Marcus Aurelio black belt and UFC vetran)

CBJJA only has BJJ classes. The schedule is: Mon-thurs - Jiu-Jitsu Techniques 6:30-7:30, Open Mat 7:30-8:30. Friday - Nogi 6:00. Sat - Open Mat 10:00-11:00. Mon, Wed, Fri Jiu-Jitsu Techniques - 12:30-1:30

All the classes are taught by Jim Kelly (except for the morning classes which are taught by MMA fighter and BJJ brown belt Josh Souder on Mon and Fri and David Christopher BJJ purple belt on Wed) unless he is not in the city (trips to Brazil etc.) then the classes are taught by assistant instructor Justin Christopher BJJ brown belt.

Jim is an excellent instructor and great guy. The people are all friendly and super helpful.

Cincinnati Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu, Self Defense, Martial Arts

Since CBJJA only offers BJJ it probably isn't ideal for your situation. Check out JG if you want more than just world class BJJ instruction but you should stop by CBJJA at least once to see if you like it.

I won't be able to give you much information on JG MMA Academy since I only trained there for a week or two but they produce good guys and have obvious good instruction so you can't go wrong with either place.

Thanks a lot for your time man, I really appreciate your time :)
So IN CBJJA you have 8 classes a week between morning and evening right? What is the open mat, is it just free time to do rolling and stuff without an instructor?
Obviously you live there, could you tell me how would the transportation be like between my sister's place (Deckebach Avenue) and CBJJA and JG academy?

Yeah open mat is just free rolling. Jim puts the timer on and we all go.

About the transportation. I have no idea about public transportation or anything like that in Cincinnati (never take it I live in the suburburbs). But you could probably find everything you need with mapquest and bus scheule on their website

Thanks a lot, but I still couldn't find anything about the buses or transportation, it only has the directions like in google maps :(

Have your sister call one of the gyms and ask if they might know a good way to get there. All the people there are super cool. They have let people sleep in the gym and Jorge has let my teammates stay at his condo before. I'm sure they wouldn't mind helping figure out how to get there.

Jorge Gurgels: (513) 889-5851

Thanks for the advice, I'll try that :)
