Hello all,

I'm an amateur MMA fighter, but I started out boxing. A few months ago, I went to Singapore to visit family and trained exclusively in Muay Thai there, which got me hooked. Now I'm back in Eastern Europe, but I'll be moving to the UK to study in a few months. I'm worried I won't be able to continue with my passion, as Britain doesn't have much of a reputation in MT/KB...
I'll most probably be studying in the southern parts (Southampton, Portsmouth, Colchester, Surrey or Bristol).
If anyone knows of reputable MT/KB gyms which produce competitors regularly in these areas, let me know.
If not, guess I'll go back to boxing. At least the UK is littered with Ammie Boxing Clubs :D

Its 2017. Everything is online. All it takes is a simple google search.

I thought you didn't believe in kicking for MMA?

Also,

I'm worried I won't be able to continue with my passion, as Britain doesn't have much of a reputation in MT/KB...

say what mate?

i don't know much about the geography of england but what about liam harrison's gym?

It's early, but this might be the most wrong thing I'll hear all day :P

Britain has more reputation in the Muay Thai than America does. In fact if we're talking pure muay thai we're probably the best at it in Europe except for maybe France.

London area:
Keddles Gym (probably the best), KO Gym, Diesel Gym, Nemesis, Muay Thai Masters, Karma, Urban Kings are all worth having a look at.
Manchester: Phoenix Gym, Master A's, All Power's Gym
Colchester: not a huge muay thai scene but BKK is always worth a look for some good training
Leeds: Bad Company Gym (Jordan Watson & Liam Harrison)

These are only a handful of them. There's gotta be at least 20 muay thai gyms in London alone.

As it happens, all those gyms are out of reach for me, except for maybe BKK, which seems to not be getting much love (If I judge my the reviews)...

not sure I understand. you want to make your stand up worse? there are several striking arts that would fit into your overall toolbox much better than MT (I'm assuming you are talking traditional MT).

maybe try Sanda or shootboxing.

Ya, I'm sure England is crawling with Sanda and Shootboxing gyms...

@RichardN7 Just work out in your garage and ask training questions on Sherdog.

A friend of mine trains there and says its not the best around, but better than nothing.

Sorry I can't be of more help dude

We have two good sanshou gyms in London, but both out of reach, no shootboxing at all though.

Southampton there's Lookborai and Lumpino Southampton

Surrey there is Shinkick in Woking
In Crawley there is lumpini Crawley

Had any of experience going there or reviews from friends etc?

Crawley Lumpini is a good gym, I train there. Obviously makes me seem bias but all you have to do is look up some of the fighters head coach John has produced; Hodge, Ashdown, Da Silva, Thompson and more.

It's not very traditional thai style. But I follow Damien Trainor after CSA hosted him for a seminar awhile back, I find his style pretty intriguing. He was pretty well regarded at CSA, and Henry Cejudo even flew his entire family to work with him in Arizona for a stint. K-star Legacy Muay Thai is the name of his gym.
