Going to my first live MMA show today

Small events are fun. They are rough, often using school halls.

I've been to one UFC event. Gaethje vs. Cerrone.

My biggest takeaway was that even with good seats, it's better viewing on TV. The audience facing cameras were backed up by blinding lights. The cameramen around the cage obscured vision. Grappling was difficult to discern, so I ended up watching the big screen half the time.

Still glad I went, though.

I was there too dude  That card was insane! I agree 100%

It was impossible to get comfortable and enjoy the fights though, every 30 seconds I had to stand up so someone could walk by.

Best part of the night, by far, was the home town reaction to Tristan Connelly beating Pereira. Place went nuts.

It was a fun night, for sure. Bathroom breaks were brutal. Absolutely packed every time shoulder to shoulder.

That fight was wild. I wish they kept Tristan around a bit longer.

Growing up in jiu jitsu my favorite submission was always the Peruvian necktie, so getting to see Misha Cirkunov hit maybe the 2nd or 3rd Peruvian neckties in UFC history was my highlight!

Nice!! I hope you have a great time and enjoy, have fun.

I used to go to a lot of MMA events back in the day, haven't been for many years.

Looks like a nice set up, hope you had fun! Keep going to small shows. They can be amazing.

Ive been to many many small local fight shows. A few "highlights", or lowlights. Well memorable experiences.

I sat next to a fighters mom and dad and he was making his debut. We talked alot about their kid growing up in wrestling and karate before the fights started. Kid got destroyed and it was heartbreaking seeing his mom just crying and so worried for her boy. And his dad trying to keep that stiff upper lip.

My son used to wrestle and his head coach's cousin is a fighter and was a decent college wrestler. He was fighting for a belt. His whole family was in the crowd maybe 30-40 people. He dominated and I was next to his sister and grandma who lost their minds. That was a lot of fun feeling that family pride

Sat next to a young group, a fighters gf was part of it. He was a striker and fought a wrestler and got taken down over and over and just beat up. She didnt cry, she was just cheering for her man the whole time. His face was so cut up and bruised up after. I was getting pizza and ran into him and his crew later in the night and bought him a beer. I couldn't believe how beat up his face was. He was walking around and his group was treating him like a rock star.

Saw a fight in the crowd where it was 2 families of 2 fighters that sat too close to each other. Probably dad's or uncles fighting each other

To me its always funny when promoter says - U HAVE TO EXPERIENCE THE ATMOSPHERE! - Even Oktagon with 60k attendance wont give u better experience than standing on football stadium in middle of ultras sector during major derby. Everyone who says UFC have good atmosphere should try this, its 1000:1.

Anyways rather bar than vip seats, unless friend/someone u know fights. BTW i wouldn't ever pay for VIP seats unless i needed to meet someone else in VIP and didn't have other way to approach him...

Local events > UFC events

It's not really even close. $100 doesn't even get you in the door at most UFC events anymore but it'll get you a Vip cageside table for you and your bros at a local show.

UFC events also have garbage tier fans. Think Vegas comps, dumbass celebrities, and drunks who boo everything. Nobody gives a fuck.
