One very mediocre Glory card! The main event is good, but Hamicha vs. Menshikov is a fake co-main event. I am not sold on Mohamed Mezouari aka Hamicha and the Russian is unpredictable, started well but might stop like Micheletti. Still, even if he takes it, they do not trick everybody.

Belgaroui and Beztati fight some bums, Meksen probably the same. Harut Grigorian fights a pretty talented Jamie Bates, he fought in Superkombat (beat Miles Simson who fights in Glory now also, but used to be kind of average in SK) and won a tournament but was knocked out by Yoann Kongolo. Or did Simson win that tournament against Bates? No idea, but anyway I will be surprised if he does something against Harut. In my opinion he is not good enough on this level.

I will be watching only for the main event, plus Harut vs. Bates and I want to see Mannart winning against Maslobojev.

Seems to be an ok card, i'll watch

The names might not sound huge but I am certain this card will have at least 6 excellent fights.

All that matters is the match up.

Which are those? Because some top names are fighting poor opponents. Lack of money?

I understand sometimes you must also give some "BYE(S)" to the fighters, but still.. there is big discrepancy here and in the case of so many! It"s like they lack money. I hate this 2 parts thing, I would have rather preferred 6 solid fights. Milking money and putting show or two shows for the TV. I don"t mind but they act like a minor promotion.

Better sell the promotion to somebody with money. They have grown in terms of fans in America, quite good, but they should have put big shows all over Europe.

Because of the thinking of Cor Hemmers and other Dutch matchmakers, they stick to the Netherlands and France. In countries like Romania they could have had thousands (+30 up to 50k on a stadium), same as in Hari vs. Verhoeven. In Croatia with or even without Cro Cop there is potential to fill 10-15-20k in the indoor arena. There was also potential in Poland or there still is. And in many other countries which are kickboxing traditional, Poland is not really.

Keep America, but invest money in more events and remove the minor shows. Utrecht is nothing than a minor event. Go to Europe, go to all over Europe, take-over there first! Romania first (in Romania they can host at least 2 huge shows annually), Italy with Petrosyan, Croatia, even Russia, maybe Ukraine, etc. Before we had Turkey, even now if Saki would be re-signed. Now Greece is not in good shape, but there are also countries such as Belgium, Belarus and Baltic. Go to Kadyrov, you will host a show with Samedov with his money! After Europe, where you WILL sell a lot of tickets, try also with Thailand. Why China? Thailand and Japan. Morroco should have been also tried. And of course, the Netherlands can host 2-3 big shows annually, but big. Andurand is lucky with France, because the Frenchies suck on kickboxing now, and the public is almost entirely Dutch in France. Plus they found this Doumbe

I wish Glory had more events. They are a blast to watch.

I think the casual MMA "Fans" who boo every time a fight goes to the ground would love Glory. Even if they don't really know whats going on It's pretty much non stop action. Very entertaining.

Looks like a cool card, they even got a North Korean chick.

Does this really even happen anymore? I feel like a solid 10+ years have passed since this was a reality.

The last UFC event I was at last year the crowd bood whenever there was no action or the fight was boring on the ground. Everyone was booing the hell out of Ryan Hall when he would try to pull guard. Sometimes it makes the fighters go for the KO or try harder but it's mostly drunk assholes

That's a bit different than booing just because ground fighting is involved. If there is stalling and non action booing is understandable.

The arguement that casuals only understand stand up is a dated opinion, IMO.

Thanks for reminding me, we can make big money here if the favourites will be nicely priced. I must check those "bums" though if they are really bums.

Maybe the traders will think their opponents are also classier like the previous ones.

What do you know, Broadcast calls non-Romanian fighters "bums" without actually knowing if they are "bums"

I also call many Romanian fighters bums, do you want names? From dozens or hundreds there are many close to bums. Well, they do have some qualities, what can I say. They would totally beat me at the gym.

I just saw Belgaroui fights Jakob Styben. Probably the easiest fight of a favourite.

All are heavy favourites, let"s say Palandre and Bates are not bad fighters but not close normally to the level of Beztati and Harut. Palandre on kickboxing rules didn"t do well before in Enfusion at all, in Muay Thai he is untested since he only fought in France. Maybe he will adapt, I am also curious if the MT circuit of France is world level, because the kickboxing scene of France right now is non-competitive. Palandre is a lot less proven than Thomas Alizier also of France who was proved internationally. Came to Romania, beaten like a punching bag. Overall though I respect the French school of kickboxing/MT but they didn"t do well in Glory at all besides Doumbe. Bums, not even average or below average fighters. Still, Palandre beat that untested and overrated Tuinov, but then after lost to Gazani. He"s not really a bum, but undeserveful maybe to fight Beztati. Let"s also not forget Beztati isn"t the most fantastic, he did lose to Stoyan Koprivlenski home at Rotterdam by UD. Bates is also not a bum like Palandre, "normally", but Harut is tough fucker and Bates was not even a challenger in Superkombat.

And Meksen fights Ji-Waen Lee, do you really think she"s valuable? Otherwise this would have been for the championship. Didn"t Lee lose 2 fights already in Glory? Why does she take such a champion? Lack of money, Glory? https://www.glorykickboxing.com/fighters/jiwaen-lee:e5a6a53d-66ef-4f6a-a1d7-b6b13b1bf42d

So basically in my opinion these 4 known fighters are heavy favourites, they all fight fighters who shouldn"t fight them because they didn"t prove anything. They fight much poorer fighters, well at least on the paper.

It"s a poor card. When you hold info, you can"t get tricked. I already told you what I will be watching here.

In my opinion I would rather watch unknown fighters with potential. They all blamed Superkombat for the last years, for having guys like Belgaroui on the undercard, or "unknown" Plazibat. But look at them where they are now! The thing is that they were brought to be promoted, to grow, to become future stars, while Glory is tricking fans without info that some are promising. This is the difference.

If you lack money, at least give up on fighters with big purses. I prefer two promising fighters fight eachother, create some new stars!!! ALEX PEREIRA WAS ALSO FIGHTING A FIGHTER FAR FROM HIS LEVEL AT THE LAST EVENT.

But when you put 2 champions (Meksen and Harut), a challenger (Belgaroui) and probably a future challenger (Beztati) against fighters you doubt they are talented, probably these underdogs have absolutely no really future in Glory and are not promising.

This is what I am saying, some fighters gave up on stars, began creating new stars and got criticized! Even though those were brilliant talents.

Meanwhile, champions in Glory fight bums, and the fans are sold. Where is the logic? From the Dutch followers I expect the most.

I wouldn"t have commented more, but you asked me. And I opened this thread, not you, this means I am interested and I will watch it!

We unfortunately found out a looong time ago that it doesn’t work like that. Those guys complain when mma goes to the ground but they don’t like kickboxing either.

The french are good in muay thai, the problem is that their judges sometimes give them hometown decisions. If the judges were more fair, the french would still be quite solid. These are some muay thai fighters that are quite good: Jimmy Vienot, Fabio Pinca, Rafi Bohic, Aziz Hlali, Elias Mahmoudi, Bobo Sacko, Dylan Salvador, Thibaut Valentino, Hamza Ngoto and probably some more that i've forgotten. But they should stop robbing fighters.

Even their best fighter Rafi Bohic got robbed when he fought in france against Bobo Sacko lol! A lot of ignorant kickboxing fans say the europeans like Ramon Dekkers couldn't win in thailand without KO in thailand, but in reality it's rare that they get robbed in the thai stadiums. A european is more likely to be robbed in europe.

Exactly this. People like Joe Rogan keep saying they don't understand why casuals don't like Kickboxing since they boo when it goes to the ground, but Kickboxing doesn't appeal to casuals either especially not when done in a ring with gloves - they'd rather watch boxing in that case.

France is the best country outside of Thailand for Muay Thai. From legends back in the day like Dany Bill, Jean-Charles Skarbowsky, Stéphane Nikiéma and Dida Diafat to modern time fighters like Damien Alamos, Yohan Lidon, Johann Fauveau, Fabio Pinca, Dylan Salvador, Brandon Vieira, Jimmy Vienot, Farid Villaume, Rafi Bohic, Bobo Sacko, Sofian Laidouni, Hakram Hamidi, Elias Mahmoudi, Daren Rolland, Arthur Meyer, Stephen Pinchard, Faycal Barhoumi, Jeremy Payet, Guillaume Babouin, Yohann Drai, Thibaut Valentino, Crice Boussoukou, Gaeton Dambo, Samy Sana, Hamza Ngoto, Mikael Benatar and Aziz Hlali. And I'm forgetting a lot of others.

Kickboxing however hasn't been a thing in France since the PKA days in the 60's and 70's during the time of Dominique Valera.

Those who competed in Kickboxing during the K-1 days like Jerome Le Banner, Cyril Abidi, Cyrille Diabaté, Freddy Kemayo, Karim Bennoui and Abdarhmane Coulibaly were from Muay Thai and looking for a bigger paycheck in K-1 when they had huge cash prize. Even fighters like Stéphane Susperregui, Zinedine Hameur-Lain, Brice Guidon, Patrice Quarteron and Abdellah Ezbiri that you see in KB are originally from Muay Thai and looking for some side money in Kickboxing. The only few exceptions are fighters like Anissa Meksen, Karim Ghajji and Cédric Doumbé who come from Savate / Karate / Kickboxing.

Why would anyone waste their time with KB when there's a big MT scene and when there's now MMA as a growing option? On top of those two there's also amateur boxing, France got the most boxing medals in the last Olympics alongside Cuba and Uzbekistan.

Still with all that being said, France produces more Glory champions and elite fighters in Kickboxing than Romania ever will.
