Global-MMA Rankings (Outside UFC) - October 2014

Yoshiyuki Nakanishi seems high to me, although I really don't know much about him. Other than that everything else looks reasonable.

Materla being ranked over Okami, heck Okami at 4 in general hurt my soul. Middleweight in general is the only division I have issues with. Branch being that low is pretty foolish.

The guy that lost to Jay Silva over Yushin Okami? Something has gone wrong here. Most the other divisions are fine. Materla that high? There is no reasonable way to justify it at all.

Some minor flaws here and there but 185 ended up a mess.

I am waiting for the epic Bellator/KSW/M1/OneFC/WSoF-2015 merger :O

This

What`s going on with Zayats? Fought 4 times in 2013 and once in 2014.

HW:

Satoshi Ishii should definitely be in top 10.
He was wining the fight against Mirko before slicing elbow from underneath opened a cut. Doctor should let him finish.
Before that, he didn't lose since 2011 (Fedor Emelianenko).
8 wins in a row: Philip De Fries,Kazuyuki Fujita,Jeff Monson,Clayton Jones,Pedro Rizzo,Kerry Schall,Sean McCorkle,Tim Sylvia.

Konstantin Erokhin and Chris Barnett should be in top 10.

Konstantin Gluhov should be nowhere near top 10.
His only recent wins are against Valentijn Overeem (8 fights losing streak) and Kenny Garner (1-4 in last two years).
If it wasn't for those two, he would be on the 5 fight losing streak.

Karol Bedorf had a nice tko against Rolles, but that was probably the only recognizable name that he faced in the last 6 years.

You should put any of the following in front of him: Denis Goltsov, Ken Hasegawa, Derrick Mehmen, Dave Herman, Dmitriy Sosnovskiy, Denis Smoldarev.

It is interesting that you didn't put any HW from USA on your list.

LHW:

Yoshiyuki Nakanishi is a MW. He is even undersized for MW.
Even if he is LHW, how can he be #4? Do you list champions first and then add one from each organization.
Stephan Puetz #6? He shouldn't be even in top 30.

Liam McGeary only #9? After destroying everybody in Bellator tournament?

How about Maxim Grishin, Vinny Magalhaes, Joey Beltran, Joe Doerksen, Ronny Markes, Tom DeBlass, Kelly Anundson.

It is obvious that Bellator has all the best LHW (outside of UFC) and you don't need to force M-1 and DEEP champions into top 10.

Dude this list is messed up. Way too many random Asian promotion guys. Aoki as #2 LW over Chandler? Aoki got blasted by Alvarez last time out. That didn't happen to Chandler.

Caol Uno at 7 and Rick Glenn at 3?? Daniel Straus should be #3

How Gluhov can be higher than Smoldarev? And where are Khasbulaev, Valiev and Grishin? Khasbulaev is one of the best featherweights outside UFC. Gafurov and Khamanaev should be higher. Emeev now better than Falcao

Great lists!

I agreed with the names, not much with the order in some divisional ranking

Konstantin Gluhov isn't much better than those ranked under the top 10

These generally look like absolute crap, just saying...

Agree. Okami and Branch should be top 5 MWs out of UFC, both of them. What criteria use this people?

Yoshiyuki Nakanishi seems high to me, although I really don't know much about him. Other than that everything else looks reasonable.

He's DEEP LHW champ. He had a NC with Manhoef. He's a solid LHW but may be getting passed up soon.

Materla's upcoming fight with Manhoef will show if he belongs in that spot or not. Materla is KSW champ and solid fighter. He came back and beat Silva in the next fight.

Ishii was top 10 until he lost to unranked Cro Cop. A loss is a loss in the rankings.

Erokhin and Barnett are good calls at HW. Erokhin is top 13 in contenders right now and on the rise. Barnett is on the radar just outside top 15.

The Garner win drove Gluhov up the ranks. Wins over a ranked fighter are one of the top criteria for the rankings and Garner was highly ranked at the time.

It would be good to see Bedorf get improved competition, I agree. It was a nice win over Gracie.

There have been U.S. HWs on the list but right now with M-1 and Bellator, Russians are doing well in this division.

Nakanishi is DEEP LHW champ. He even fought Manhoef at 205 at ONE FC. Champs do get a boost in the rankings but Nakanishi may be getting passed up soon.

McGeary could be at or near the top if he takes the Belllator title in his next fight. He was added after his first Bellator win in the tournament and has continued to climb into the top 10.

All good suggestions at 205. Some of those guys were ranked in the past and others are on the radar.

Some good comments. Will consider some for future updates.

When ranking 135 fighters (including contenders) out of a list of thousands there will always be debate.

Chandler was above Aoki but Chandler recently lost and Aoki recently won so he took the spot above him. They both share wins and losses against Chandler.

Uno moved up with a win over a ranked opponent. Glenn beat Georgi who was near top rank at the time so he got his spot. Straus is moving back up the ranks.

Gluhov moved up with his win over ranked Garner at the time and he has fallen since.

Frodo was ranked until last month. He hasn't fought and was passed up.

Falcao fell after recently losses.

Thanks.

Gluhov made top 10 after beating ranked Garner at the time and has fallen since.
