With all of the latest reviews of the Insignia by Ronin Brand it is safe to say the company out of Brooklyn New York is beginning to gain steam in the mid level Gi category , and part of the reason why is because of their aggressive marketing campaign with the signature Gi the Insignia.

Many people have seen the reviews and this board seems to be filling up fast with reports of the durability and attractiveness of the Insignia and i thought we could add just one more review to the mix.

Why not?

Ronin Brand Insignia BJJ Gi Review

cliffs:

Good:
Affordable Gi
Attractive
Durable
Strong
Thick collar
Very well constructed
Different
Preshrunk
Light

Bad:
Seam tape on the inside was scratchy initially , by the 5th time rolling was barely noticeable
Utilizes a baggy fit/cut ( this is somewhat debatable , i personally like roomy Gi's for the added mobility, but others may not ,check with KinjiSan for sizing )

Nice review. I notice you did another review and you do post good stuff about this brand/Co.

Before I bought a Ronin gi 2 weeks ago I did do some research about the gi and read very good things about it here on Sherdog. Now me being a lawyer i always have that biased thought back i my head - Did ronin give away or sell their gi cheap to reviewers to asked them to give good reviews ?

Besides that in my head, i did have 5-7 guys in the class that have these gis but really don't socialize with them. I guess one of the instructors sealed it for me when he highly recommended it and let me tried his jacket on after class.

yeah thats a legit concern.

but in all fairness, gear companies can only benefit from reviewers being honest, even if it isn't in their favor, because it gives them a chance to improve a design/manufacture or it gives them the chance to leave well enough alone.

The Insignia really is a great Gi, you get exactly what you pay for , unlike some other higher priced Gi's that you really only pay for the name

I agree with Amave. I promise that if you visit me at my academy, you'll see me wearing it on the mats. I stand by the review 100% =o)

i own this gi and its really nice . i personally love the thick collar and it verry hard to hold on to . the seam tape was very itchy at first but now i love it (the gi not the seam tape ) great over-all gi !

I'm happy to lie and pump out an awesome review for big $$$.

This would be my favorite all time gi if it werent for those horrible pants and the seam tape. Otherwise the cut, construction, material, and appearance of the jacket are outstanding. Also its very comfortable too.

What's the deal with the size? The greatest bane of my existance on this Earth is a gi that is too big. That thing looks kinda huge.
