Anyone know about this? It involves you stepping in with your lead foot as the opponent steps in with his. It can clear distances quite well with proper timing.
 
I call that intercepting, but it's a staple movement in many styles.
 
That's probably almost half of Lyoto Machida's game right there, to be honest. He's dropped and/or knocked a lot of people the fuck out that way.
 
This applies in so many situations. An interesting recent one was how Bisping beat Le by stepping in to punch when Le stepped in to kick.
 
yeah its a good move to stop the opponent from coming forward. I'll do it to intercept the straight right with my jab putting my head off center, or ill step in trapping the lead arm and jabbing as they step in
