I've played a couple games on my cousin's machine like the Lab Valve demo, the Rick and Morty thing that wasn't really a game and Audioshield. What games/software should be day one purchases?

Gorn?
Beat Saber?
Space Pirate Trainer?

I'm taking a pass on Skyrim and FO4, I've spent enough time in those games normally to not want to start over in VR.

Beat saber
Robo recall
Superhot
Arizona sunshine

I own a vive...

you should buy an oculus.

that said: Arizona Sunshine is my favorite so far.

Valve just put up the first photo of their newest headset rumored 135 degree field of view outside tracking VS lighthouses. Improved optics an tons of other upgrades. It's not like the new oculus adding inside-out tracking an a slight resolution increase. It's also looks smaller an lighter weight then the VIVE.

"The news came on Friday in the form of a single teaser image, shown above, of a headset with the phrase "Valve Index" written on its front. The front of the headset is flanked by at least two sensors. This shadow-covered hardware matches the leaked headset reported by UploadVR in November of last year. That report hinted to Valve's headset supporting a wider, 135-degree field-of-view (FOV), as opposed to the roughly 110-degree FOV of the original HTC Vive and Oculus Rift."

More about the new VIVE headset

"
A high-contrast look at a few mysterious dots on the newly revealed Valve Index VR headset.
Since Valve's official page includes so little information, we're left picking at the single image to figure anything out. Jacking up the brightness and contrast (seen above) reveals a series of six dots on one of the headset's surfaces. These resemble the faint dots used by HTC Vive, which may hint to this headset's use of an outside tracking sensor, a la the HTC Vive's infrared trackers. Even so, those two giant lenses imply that "inside-out" tracking, managed entirely by the headset without any extra webcams or sensors, may also be in the cards. Additionally, we can see a giant physical slider, which is likely linked to interpupillary distance (IPD), a precise measurement needed to ensure maximum VR comfort."

I'm a former DK2 backer and own the cv1 and this is my take on the situation.

I would wait until the new Vive comes out this may because they may drop the price on the Vive Pro model.

With that being said, I would personally take a wait and see approach on consumer VR. The Pimax 5K XR looks promising but their lenses still need work.
We are probably still two or three years away until they finally get things right.

Valve new headset still can run on lower power hardware an it looks like it has 135 degree Field of view that is a substantial jump over Vive Pro 100 to 110 degree FOV. Knuckles controller going on sale too an that's just crazy technology.

Pimax 5k XR has a 200 degree field of view which is right around what our eyes see in every day life.

I understand but I hear from a number of reliable sources that there is substantial distortion at the edges an a fair amount of screen door an god rays. It also requires a 1080Ti or better to run an HTC lighthouses for tracking. The Index apparently addresses a lot of these issues an has what looks like an upgradable design. It also looks smaller an lower weight.

Yeah I mentioned the lenses needing work in my first post that’s why I was saying I would take the wait and see approach. Hopefuly the follow up to the Pimax version I mentioned hits that sweet spot of immersion and cost.

HTC makes a nice product but I doubt they will release that newer version at a reasonable price point because the Vice pro headset by itself costs $800. Who knows what they will try to charge for their new unit.

Right now the RTX 2080 can be found for $700 and can run Pimax games at decent settings and I suspect the following generation will offer a card in the price range of the RTX 2070 $500. That’s why I’m taking the wait and see approach before I upgrade my Oculus Rift.

Lucky's Tale. A VR platformer

theBlu. It's not a game, but underwater visual porn.

If you're a space nerd, Apollo 11 is worth it. There isn't controls and you're just watching the events unfold but it's awesome.
