Hey guys,

Just wondering if any Germans on here can help me get a list of phrases that someone training in Germany would run into when training Martial Arts.

I don't know too much about MT but a jab is a jab or a "Linke"(=left hand), a cross might be called "Rechte"(=right hand), hooks are "Haken" and an uppercut usually is an uppercut or "Aufw

When you Train Muay Thai you will need:
Wo ist die Umkleide - Where is the changing room
Schlag eine Link - Punch with the Left
Schlag die rechte - Punch with the Right
Schlag die F

Danke.

Thanks, I live pretty close to Kaiserslautern and Saarbrucken. I'm going to a Muay Thai school in Homburg. I've been in Germany for a year, but I only speak a little German. I'm not required to speak German at work and I don't have any friends that speak German. Well, I got a friend that speak German. Normally I can find someone that can help me, but not always.

Ok, back to just speaking english. As you guys can see, my German is horrible. I haven't taken any classes and don't watch German tv. Ich habe nicht in ein Schule deutsch gelernt und ich sehe Deutsch nicht fern. I got these learn as you go German CDs and just listen to them while I drive to work.

I did go into a BJJ school and watched. I had a hard time keeping up. I figured that if I was going to take classes there, I would have to learn positional phrases. "greff unter der elbogen" or something like that. The thing is, I can guess what to say most of the time, but I'm wrong 90 percent of the time.

So I guess for BJJ, I'm looking for phrases like:

grab your own wrist.
grab his wrist
wrist control
grab the lappel
pull the arm
push the arm
turn the arm
move to the left
scoot back
switch positions
lift the arm
put your arm under
go to his right side
take mount
take his back
trap the arm

For Kickboxing:
Take a break
pushups
block
block with your right
check the kick
use the other leg
use your other hand
duck
clinch

Then for both:

I guess cool things to say to thank the person for sparring or practicing with you.
Ways to apologize and say that it was an accident.
